Teddy Bear Themed Nursery

Because Teddy was our first baby we did not know the gender of – we saved decorating his nursery for after he was born. We had all the main items up, empty frames and his furniture already built and in his room (mostly because we had all of that prior to him being born, thank you fourth child). We knew that if he was a boy, we were going to call him Teddy so there really wasn’t any other option than to decorate his nursery with ALL the teddy bears!! His room is a mixture of past decorations we already had from the other kids, quite a bit of crafting from myself and my friends, and some new items. I think it turned out so perfect!

We ended up filling a bunch of holes and repainting the room the same color as all our other bedrooms – Agreeable Grey by Sherwin Williams. It’s a great neutral color that goes with just about any decoration you can put together.

We used the same rocking chair, crib and dresser that we did for Alice and also reused a lot of the decorations like the bookshelf, hanging hammock for stuffed animals, pictures frames and shelves. I love that we kept so much of our nursery decor for each child neutral so that we could make easy swaps to make the room their own without having to rebuy all new decorations and furniture.

I chose to craft some of his decor – and was gifted really beautiful and special items from one of my friends. I hand sewed the name banner above his crib and do not recommend even though it ended up being so cute. It took me forever – but it did save me money. I was going to buy on Etsy but they range around $90-$100 and I couldn’t find one with the colors and fabric I wanted. I made this one for about $50 and a week of my time. I do LOVE the way it turned out, though. I’ll link all the materials. I used embroidery thread and cut out all the letters. I did learn you needed to make them bigger than you think because they shrink a bit once you stuff them!

The felt teddy garland was handmade by my friend Abbie and I LOVE it. The teddy bears are so precious. She also made the embroidery hoop with the bear and his name. I’ll keep them forever.

For the teddy print on his wall, I bought the digital file from Etsy and had it printed at Walgreens. The frame is one from Noah’s nursery that’s been used for Noah, Alice and now Teddy.

I printed the maternity photo from shutterfly because it came matted and framed. We didn’t do 30 week maternity pictures this time because we had family photos earlier this year that we used in place of, so this was a photo of me at the beach around 30 weeks and it’s a really sweet reminder of my last pregnancy.

As for the framed ultrasound / hospital bracelet picture – that was trickier to find. I was actually gifted a version of this eight years ago for Jack, and loved it so much I’ve bought one for each child. They no longer make the original one I bought, so I found this one unopened on Poshmark.

The mirror is from Target and I love it! Another left over from Noah and Alice! If you click back to see their nurseries, you can see how I reused a lot of decor but changed it up for each child.

I snagged a new lamp that had the same white / light wood combo as the rest of the room to put on the little table near my rocking chair (another reused item for all of my babies. When it’s time to get rid of it, I will cry big ugly tears. It was a gift from my late grandmother, and I’ve brought each of my babies home and slept and rocked them in this chair.

I loved having this stuffy hammock for Alice so when we move her over into a big girl room, I got her a new one, and left this one for Teddy. It’s a great way to store those stuffed animals off the floor.

The Teddy Bear on his rocking chair is actually one from my sister when she was a baby – it’s over 25 years old and so special. SO many pieces in Teddy’s room are sentimental.

All in all, I’m so pleased with how Teddy’s room turned out. It’s the sweetest last nursery.
