BULLET POINTS FROM THIS EPISODE:
- What does “Hustle Like A Mother” mean to you?
- If I am hustling like a mother I am working smarter, not harder to get everything that I want including an amazing career and a present mom. I have to figure out the best way to be productive and efficient to do everything that I can in order of priority.
- What is your story? Tell me more about your journey and your corporate career and why you wrote a book.
- In six and a half years I went from not being a mom to being a mom of four. I’ve been working in corporate for 20+ years.
- I had thought about writing a book and then the pandemic happened. I was still working, full-time homeschooling kids, and my husband was traveling nonstop. This idea for the book that I had in little pieces and parts before really just came together.
- I wrote it in 34 days! I interviewed and surveyed almost 200 moms. Including strategies that I use and strategies that other moms are using that are helping them and making life a little bit easier.
- What does it look like to effectively prioritize your time as a working mom?
- “Trimming the fat” refers to getting rid of things, people, and tasks that are unimportant.
- Ordering things to prioritize your time and be effective but still have flexible time to do what you want.
- Outsourcing as much as you can and realizing we can’t do it all by ourselves. By sharing the load a little bit, it can also really lighten yours.
- Tracking your time is beneficial. We build things up really big in our minds and they don’t end up being as big. We realize tasks are more attainable than I thought they were.
- Let’s talk about this “I-Have-To” Culture – what is it and how is it negatively affecting us?
- The “I-Have-To” Culture is dealing with the shitstorm which negatively affects us by putting all of that pressure on us and leaving us completely overstressed.
- There’s a couple of questions that you want to ask yourself…
- Do you really have to, because maybe you don’t have to do it?
- Do I have to do this or do I get to do this? It changes that negative into the positive of things that we get to choose.
- Does this have to be done right now, or by today, or can it wait 24 hrs?
- What are your top 3 motivations or encouragement for tired working moms?
- Make a happiness list – Sitting down for 20 or 30 minutes and writing down everything that makes you happy, little things that make you happy, big things,
- Hang out with supermoms- Have those people in your life that help you stay motivated. The people in your life can really make or break that motivation level.
- The more I’m doing, the more I feel like doing- Just getting started is doing that easy thing. Finding that little, easy, quick thing to do and then you got started.
