Happy Friday, friends! As someone who deals with pretty severe adult acne (YAY me) – I have pretty much mastered the art of covering acne. I’ve done it all over the years – color correction, full coverage concealer / full coverage foundation, light coverage foundation / full coverage concealer…all of the things. As I get into my late 20s, and having gone through 2 pregnancies, I have found that my skin has DRASTICALLY changed since my days of full coverage everything. That said, it’s high time I did an update video on how to embrace your natural skin texture and focus on spot concealing! Let’s jump into it.

HOW TO EMBRACE YOUR NATURAL SKIN TEXTURE + FOCUS ON SPOT CONCEALING (EVEN WITH ACNE)

*JUST A QUICK NOTE: my external mic did not pick up like it was supposed to so I went with my backup camera audio and it isn’t GREAT. I worked as much magic on it as I could but I am SO sorry for the hum in the background. Hopefully you still enjoy!*

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  1. Go in with a light coverage tinted moisturizer or sunscreen as your base – it will offer minimal coverage but will help even out the overall tone. Even better if you can get one with sunscreen so you don’t need to use two products if you can use one.
  2. Use a full coverage foundation VERY SPARINGLY on your acne spots / scars – do not use it all over your skin. The goal is to cover your redness without covering your natural skin. We want our beautiful natural skin texture to show!
  3. Use a light coverage concealer under your eyes to cover any purple or blue tint underneath.
  4. Follow with your blush, bronzer and highlight sparingly to add definition to your face without caking the product on. I’ve been leaning towards powder products lately so as to wear a little more naturally during the day.
