Happy TUESDAY! Today is going to be a such a busy day – I am hanging out with the fun ladies at Michael Kors in St. Louis getting ready for their big spring launch on Saturday, so definitely head over to my Instagram so get the inside scoop on that fun collection. 🙂 Because I’ve been traveling so much lately (and have two more trips coming up – one in March and one in April), I’ve decided to break down what I bring with me on my trips to show you how easy it is to travel AND look fabulous, without bringing 42 checked bags (for makeup and skincare anyways….you may need those bags for shoes….). Let’s dive into this!

HAIR PRODUCTS:

Ok, honestly. This one is always the hardest for me. I am so picky about my hair and if I am traveling with just a carry-on (as I often am), I can’t bring all my full-sized favorites with me. I used to just get generic products from the Walmart travel section, and now I’ve learned the error of my ways after many, many bad hair days while on vacation or work trips and just purchased mini sized of my best hair products. Ok, here we go:

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo & Conditioner (2 oz) – $11 / each

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day In Shower Styler (3 oz) – $15

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast (3 oz) – $15

Living Proof Control Hairspray (3 oz) – $15

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray (4 oz) – $27

Right now, I’m out of my mini shampoo and conditioner + the hairspray, and couldn’t run to ULTA to grab new ones so on my last trip I substituted these less expensive items in my collection and it wasn’t the WORST thing that ever happened to me so if you need a drugstore sub, here’s what I recommend:

Organix Nourising Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner (2 oz) – $2.39 / each

TRESemmé TRES Aerosol Spray Extra Hold (1.5 oz) – $1.49

Unfortunately, nothing beats the in-shower styler when it comes to doing your hair quickly in the morning. I have STICK straight hair and this actually gives me waves and body and all I have to do it let it air dry. I usually wash it the night before, and then braid my hair so it can dry over night in braids with the styling product in, spray a few times in the morning with surf spray and have perfect beach waves. It’s the most amazing thing probably ever. 10/10 would recommend.

SKINCARE PRODUCTS:

I like to just get the travel size of what I usually use, but I cut down on my skincare routine when I travel so it isn’t as intensive. If you want to see what my day-to-day morning and night routine is, check out THIS post.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel (1.7 oz) – $12

Dermalogica Active Moist Moisturizer (1.7 oz) – $40

Garnier Micellar Water Cleansing Makeup Wipes – $5.59

If you do NOT want to spend $52 on your travel face wash and moisturizer (which, ok honestly, who TRULY does) – here are my drugstore alternatives:

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub (1 oz) – $0.99

Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizing Lotion (.6 oz) – $3.99

MAKEUP PRODUCTS:

I try to pack as minimalistically as possible. LUCKILY 90% of your makeup products are TSA friendly, meaning your liquid foundations are rarely over 1.5 oz which is the biggest worry. The other product you need to worry about is your setting and priming spray. That is the ONLY product I had to grab a travel size of because it was bigger than 4 oz.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray (2 oz) – $5

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Primer (1.8 oz) – $32

Becca Cosmetics Liquid Foundation (1.01 oz) – $44

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – (.33 oz) – $27

BH Cosmetics Glam Reflection Rosé Eyeshadow Palette – $11

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner – $22

A various assortment of fake lashes

Lancomé Monsieur Big Mascara – $25

ABH Brow Wiz – $21

ABH Clear Brow Gel – $22

The Balm Take Home The Bronze Bronzer – $17.50

Physician’s Formula Butter Blush – $12.99

The Balm Mary-Lou-Manizer – $24

  1. I always feel like I over pack when it comes to beauty products and cosmetics. When we flew to Hawaii it was literally the hardest thing i’ve ever had to do but since then i’ve found that there are a few multi functional products that work. I also love a face palette with everything I need in it. I got one from Christmas by Profusions that I plan to carry with me but I also really want the BH Cosmetics Rose Glam Reflection palette now!

  2. Dry shampoo is such a lifesaver! I don’t think the in-shower styler would work for me because it’s pretty much impossible for my hair to air dry, haha. Honestly, it’s so thick I’ve gone 2 days without drying it and it’s still damp!

  3. I tend to overpack on beauty products and I know I should just pack the basics! These are great tips and I will have to make a note of it as a reminder for when I am traveling. Thanks for sharing❤️

  4. I love dry shampoo, especially when traveling! I always have a hard time with hair products when traveling because I don’t want to waste my money. Love the products you showed here.

  5. The Living Proof Dry Shampoo is one of my all-time favorites! And I’m not even a fan of dry shampoo haha I also really love that coconut milk shampoo and conditioner. I have them both in my shower right now lol

  6. This is a great list o the different beauty products you’ll need while traveling. I always end up having to purchase something because I forgot it at home.

  7. I remember when morning burst was originally released – I feel in love with it! the smell still takes me back to high school 🙂
