Over three years, Liz founded, grew, and then sold a successful blog, The Virtual Campground. In that time she really honed in on – and fell in love with – converting email subscribers into paying customers salivating for every new thing she offered.   • What does hustle like a mother mean to you?
    • When I first hear that, you know, I think of the mom with the messy bun or, you know, the apron on and just running around doing all the things.
    • I’m definitely just one of those people that I’m always striving to be the best person I can be and to bring that the people around me. I strive to be an example of what’s possible – that, to me, embodies the “hustle like a mother” so well, because even in business that’s what I strive to do.
  • How did you go from blogger to email marketing strategist?
    • I was married at the time and my husband was in the military and we decided to, instead of buying a house to save money and such, we decided to live in an RV. When my husband got out of the military, I wanted us to be able to travel and see the world, so I started a blog with the intent of being a business.
    • I kept hearing over and over that email marketing has the highest ROI (return on investment), so I started with a freebie and I start building a list. I start putting my link in places, you know, I’m doing all the things. And I started building this small, but mighty email list.
    • I ended up launching, I think it was like six or seven, digital products. In three years. I launched a digital course. After two years of building my email list, I had 141 people that were interested. When I started debriefing, I said, oh wow, that’s a hundred percent. How do you do that? Everything that you sell actually sells. I went all in on the email marketing because I wanted to teach people.
    • One of the things that I love about email marketing and the number one rule I have is have fun. And number two is don’t overthink it. Be serious about helping your readers, but don’t be too serious about yourself.
  • What is the 20 minute nap time newsletter? And how can somebody start incorporating this right now?
    • It’s more centered around that personal update than telling the story. So if you’re listening to this, this is your permission slip to just let go of feeling like you have to tell a story every single time you email.
    • The 20-minute Nap Time Newsletter is just a real quick outline.
      • Number one, you’ve got to have a subject line for a friend.
      • Then you go into that personal update.
      • Then just a short transition into the content that should literally take you 30 seconds.
      • Then you can go into that main content. And this, honestly, it can take two seconds. It can take five minutes.
      • Make sure that they know that call to action is very clear.
      • And then just sign off.
    • The call to action or the main content might be clicking over to a blog post or a product, but it can also be a conversation. This is where you start to really turn those people into friends that you know, make it really easy to make sales.
    • When you follow that formula and you stay consistent and people know that you are actually gonna read this email, they start replying more. They tell their friends. You create products that sell because you know your people – it’s not a shot in the dark.
    • You don’t have to spend a million man-hours to be authentic.
