Happy Fri-YAY! AND Happy 1 year anniversary to the Monthly Obsessions series on Blonde & Ambitious! I started this fun monthly post series exactly a year ago in March 2018 on a whim and loved it so much, I decided to keep it going all year long! It’s still one of my favorite blog posts of the month, so don’t worry: it’s not going anywhere. I hope you love them as much as I do. It’s a great place for me to be able to talk super candidly about all of the things I am absolutely LOVING during the month and I am HERE for it. Let’s dive into this month’s list of favorites!

All things baby boy!

This is a no-brainer right? We found out we were having a baby boy at the end of February and then announced our sweet news beginning of this month (catch that gender reveal here)! We were SO certain this little dude was, in fact, a DUDE – so it wasn’t shocking to us at all when they looked at him on the ultrasound and said IT’S A BOY! We are obviously OVER THE MOON to have a boy in our house (even though Izzy & I are now outnumbered 2-4 between Adam and the pets….). I only have a sister, so buying boy things has been so much fun. Bring on the dinosaurs, legos, trucks and mud. 😉 I am so ready to be a boy mom!

Colourpop Just My Luck eyeshadow palette

This is such a unique eyeshadow palette – I actually bought it the day it launched! I am obsessed with all things Colourpop to be totally honest, so I wasn’t surprised when I decided I needed this, too. I never even feel and about it because of how inexpensive their products are. This St. Patrick’s Day themed launch is fun, green and so out of the ordinary for my makeup collection. I hardly have ANY true greens in my eyeshadows (which is insane considering the amount of eyeshadow palettes I own) – so I felt like this was a great purchase because they were colors I didn’t already own!

 Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Hair System

My new hairstylist Caitlin pretty much transformed my hair with this stuff when I got my hair done the other day. She cut off all the dead ends and broken sections, evened it all out and then used this line to truly begin the repair process. I am pretty religious with hair masks (find my faves here) but I knew I needed professional help to get my hair back on track. I love the overnight hair mask from this line, and the shampoo and conditioner actually FEEL luxurious. Of course, I need to use the products for longer than a month to get a true feel for them, but so far I’m ALL in!

….Powdered donuts. #yikes

Heeeeeeyyyyy pregnancy cravings. All I’ve wanted lately is powdered donuts. I can’t seem to stop eating them but I’m trying SO HARD to limit my intake because I know that I really shouldn’t be having this much sugar while pregnant. I allow myself a little treat once a day and I look forward to it ALL DAY LONG. Please tell me I’m not the only one with terrible-for-you preggo cravings.

Burts Bees Mama Bee belly butter

I. Am. Obsessed. This stuff has been so awesome. It’s soft, it doesn’t have a strong scent, and based on the amazing reviews (not just on the website – but from personal friends, too) – this stuff isn’t messing around. I have used it religiously every night since about 15 weeks in, and so far no stretch marks! I know I have SO MUCH more to grow, so they may still yet appear no matter how much belly butter I use, but as of right now, 24 weeks in, I’m still doing alright. 🙂

Avocado toast with grape tomatoes + a fried egg (my new go-to lunch)

This is one GOOD craving I’ve had! This is my favorite lunch food and it’s so easy to make. I take a regular avocado (1/2 is usually good for two pieces of toast), two pieces of toast, a few grape tomatoes and a fried egg to make this sucker happen. One half of my toast is avocado covered in sliced tomatoes, and the other half is avocado topped with the fried egg. It’s best if you have a runny yolk to go along with it (so it’s more over easy). I mash my avocado with a fork and then add a splash of lime juice. SO easy, SO yummy and SO good for you.

Walking on the treadmill at the gym

I’m not someone who works out – but my OBGYN really wanted me to start at least walking to get some exercise in, and to help make my labor and delivery easier on both me and the baby. I can’t argue with that logic, so I finally started making use of my gym membership 3-4 times a week by going to walk for 40-45 minutes on the treadmill. It isn’t a crazy amount (because I didn’t work out really at all prior to getting pregnant) so it doesn’t put unnecessary stress on my body, but it does get my heart rate up and it’s helping to keep me in shape for when I’ve got to chase my little man around once he’s here.

The return of the Jonas Brothers, and their new single “Sucker”

Raise your hand if you were an OG Jonas Brother’s fan BACK IN THE DAY. That was SO me. I loved them and their music back between the years of 2005-2009. Basically over an entire decade ago. Now that they’re back, I am super excited to hear their new music and am SO enjoying Sucker! I think that was such a fun song to come back into the spotlight with. I’ve loved Nick’s solo career, and obviously DNCE has been such a fun band to listen to as well, so I’m looking forward to a mix of those two styles coming from them in the future!

Mama bear mug

‘Nuff said, right? I love this mug because it reminds me of how much my life is going to change once my baby is born, in the best way possible. I already love my son SO much and he has already wrapped his dad and I around his little tiny fingers. I cannot even imagine the amount of love we are going to feel for him once he’s actually here. I am so embracing everything “mama”!!

Prenatal massages

I got a prenatal massage at the resort I stayed at in Atlanta while I was working with Project Chimps. It was SO very nice. I have been carrying a ton of pain in my lower back due to my placenta placement (literally directly on my back), as well as experiencing a lot of sciatica nerve pain and restless leg pain – and the masseuse was able to really work on those problem areas and I felt so much better when she was done. I can see why people would do this every few weeks and plan on doing the same myself – especially as I get bigger.
