OKAY. I’m back with another cult favorite review: Gimme Beauty! A couple weeks I reviewed Dime Beauty (read it HERE) – and now I’m onto my new (spoiler alert) favorite hair ties! Gimme Beauty Hair Ties are sweeping tiktok and Instagram feeds with everyone sharing how much they love them. Amazon even has dupes out now to try and compete with the craze – more on that below! I tried three of their products, and am letting you know what’s worth your month and what can be left out of your cart today. Let’s dive in.

GIMME BEAUTY HAIR TIES: ARE THEY WORTH THE HYPE?

HAIR TIES – FINE HAIR : HUGE HIT!!!

Okay Gimme Beauty Hair Ties these have changed my hair game. Like actually. I’m FLOORED by how much I like these hair bands. Not only to they hold your hair TIGHT without giving you a headache (a big win) – but they don’t tug or pull at your hair. They are a stretchy rolled fabric vs an elastic band so there isn’t any way for it to get stuck and tug on your head or hair. I have the fine hair bands because I have fine hair and I’m just obsessed with them.

I love that I can do a messy bun or pony tail and it holds both styles equally well. I used to really like the clear coiled hair ties, but I found even those tugged too much on my head by the end of the day. I used to get really bad headaches when I’d wear my hair up – but I haven’t got them at all since switching to the Gimme brand!

Amazon sells similar bands that some call “dupes” – but I ordered them and my personal opinion is that they don’t hold their stretch very well (aka: they stretch out after one or two uses). I wrap my ties tight around my hair so I need something that will keep its shape. The Gimme brand ties don’t stretch out, keep their shape and are soft on the hair. The Amazon brand is just a little rougher in fabric feeling. It isn’t a bad replacement if you want a cheaper alternative – but the real thing still comes out on top!!

CLEAR ELASTICS : ANOTHER HIT!!!

OKAY. OKAYYYYYY. I added these to my order because I could ALWAYS use more clear elastics. They’re really only single use, so I keep hundreds of them in my desk/purse/bathroom/vanity. I do all of my braid styles and half styles using clear elastics so I use them several times a week.

My complaint has ALWAYS been that they sometimes snap in your hair when you are wearing them. That’s annoying because if you are out somewhere and don’t have a replacement, your hair is going to fall out of it’s style. I honestly did not thing I was going to be impressed because it’s JUST A CLEAR ELASTIC – but color me surprised.

A few notable things: 1. they are a little bit thicker than other clear elastics which makes them a little bit sturdier. I have been wearing them for 8+ weeks now exclusively and have not have a single hair tie snap on me yet (fingers crossed). For reference, I’d have one snap once or twice a week prior to switching brands. 2. They come in these rolls and it’s the best invention I’ve ever heard of for clear elastics. They are all stuck together and when you want to use one, you peel it off the roll. Read: NO MORE ELASTICS FLYING AROUND EVERYWHERE. I put a bundle in my purse, at my vanity, my desk and upstairs in my master bath. I have one everywhere I’m at. It’s brilliant. Worth it JUST for that.

TANGLE-FREE BRUSH : NOT A GIANT HIT – BUT NOT A MISS!

I think I still like my OG Wet Brush the best when it comes to brushing my hair. This hair brush is TOTALLY fine – there isn’t anything wrong with it at all. It’s very sleek, it detangles well, it brushes easily through my hair. But my Wet Brush is just a LITTLE bit better at the tough knots and tangles when it comes to as little pain as possible. When I compared the two side by side, the Wet Brush caused less “ouch”es. So, not a miss at all. I’ll still use it! But I’ll probably reach for my Wet Brush more.
