My baby is ONE. Still shocked. Will I ever get over it..? Probably not. I’m so in love and obsessed with my tiny human – and his party was an absolute blast. Not all of our friends and family could attend because we are still all trying to practice social distancing and care with COVID19 precautions – but those who were able to be here made our darling boy feel SO special. He is one loved little man! The first birthday party theme was ONE-DER THE SEA, and I had WAY too much fun putting the party together. I told Adam we weren’t going to do anything big for Jack’s birthday but…I couldn’t help it. #whoops Let’s jump into it!
FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY: ONE-DER THE SEA!
Baby Shark himself – Jack Henry!
Honestly, he couldn’t have gotten any cuter if he tried. We started the party out in his Cat + Jack shark swimsuit set and post-swimming, we changed into the cutest little Carter’s shark romper. It was 101 degrees on this day, so we wanted to be as cool as possible (both literally and figuratively).
Jack was SUCH a good sport – he missed his afternoon nap due to first birthday party festivities. We tried to put him down about halfway through the party but he wasn’t having it so we brought him back out and he finished like a champ. We did lunch first (for everyone + Jack), then smash cake + cupcakes for the grownups, and then we opened presents!
Decorations – Party Hop Shop
Party Hop Shop sent over their Under The Sea party decor and it was PERFECT. We have called Jack our Baby Shark since he was born so it only seemed fitting that his first birthday be ONE-DER THE SEA themed.
The decor we chose was an Under The Sea Banner for the wall + the table, fish-themed napkins + plates, multicolored blue balloon arch, and a big giant aluminum shark balloon. 10/10 recommend snagging all you party needs from PHS – they make it SO EASY.
Desserts – Laulie Cakes
I discovered this little cake shop because they moved locations and showed up in Downtown St. Charles. Adam and I wandered in a couple weeks ago and I immediately shot them an email ordering our smash cake + coordinating cupcakes. It was so easy and super affordable!!
They had everything ready for us upon pick up and they did a BEAUTIFUL job. Plus the cake looked perfect. Raving reviews about the cupcakes from all the adults!
I am still sitting here wondering how the heck my little man got so big already. You can read my letter to Jack on his first birthday HERE. The last year literally FLEW by and we just can’t wait to see what year #2 holds for us and baby J!
Did you throw a 1st birthday party?!
