AHHH Happy Monday, my friends! Today, I’ll be talking directly to my entrepreneurial ladies. Those of you who run a business, own a business, created a business, want to create a business – this is for you. About 2 weeks ago, I did a branding shoot with my friend Emily for my coaching business. We honed in on the four cornerstones of my business and she seriously brought my vision to life. I’m going to be sharing the process with you, some of the final images AND how you can get in touch with Emily to book your own. Let’s jump into this.

Why You Should Do A Professional Branding Shoot

First of all – let’s answer this question: what IS brand photography?

Brand photography is comprised of photos that showcase the true message of your business. I believe them to be specifically important for service based businesses – but obviously good images of a products in a product based business is important as well, just slightly different. These images are used in ads, social media, web imagery and more. It allows your audience to get a peek behind the curtain, so to speak. Capturing these behind the scenes images help your audience see what you do, what makes your brand unique and what sets you apart from the crowd.

How to prepare for your branding session:

If you’re lucky – you’ll have the world’s MOST PREPARED photographer. Emily sent over a questionnaire so she could get to know what pillars were most important to me in my business (I chose 4 – digital organization, entrepreneurial spirit, podcast and business strategy). THEN, she had me create a pinterest board with some inspiration. From that – she put together the most incredible guide for me to prep for our shoot. Not only did it have inspiration images, but it also had a shot list, prop suggestions and notes. See below:

When choosing your photographer, you want to make sure you are completely comfortable with whoever it is you pick. Brand photography shouldn’t be stilted and posed – it should be natural and easy. It should showcase WHO you really are! Luckily, Em is one of my dearest friends so being comfortable behind the camera for her is SUPER easy.

You’ll need to choose the perfect location for your shots next. We decided to showcase my brand new home office. You can see my process building my office HERE. Since it was finally all put together, I couldn’t think of a better place to shoot the images. Other people choose office spaces, coworking spaces, coffee shops, etc. for their shoot locations. You’ll want at least 3 different locations for your images.
