Happy New Year, Taylor Lately fam! If you’re reading this, congratulations—you made it through 2024, a year that felt like it both sprinted and crawled by (how is that even possible?). If you’ve been following along since the OG blogging days, you know I’m all about transparency, growth, and, most importantly, making sure we all laugh at my occasional chaos. Spoiler alert: 2024 was another wild ride.

Let’s recap the year, set some new goals, and discuss my word for 2025: Momentum.

NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS: Looking Back on 2024 and Ahead to 2025

Momentum

noun: mo·men·tum | /mōˈmen(t)əm/

the strength or force gained by motion or by a series of events.

Momentum feels like the perfect word for 2025 because I’m determined to build on every small win, every lesson learned, and every chaotic-but-beautiful moment from this past year. My goal is to keep moving forward—not perfectly, but consistently.

2024 Recap: How Did I Do?

Make consistent income again in 2024. Goal status: Didn’t happen.

Three kids under five really tested me this year. Between juggling motherhood, a growing business, and, well, life, staying consistent felt impossible. I tried, but 2024 just wasn’t the year for this one.

Hit our savings account goal. Goal status: Also didn’t happen.

Life came at us hard this year: furnace replacement, a car accident, and Allie’s abdominal surgery were just a few curveballs. Needless to say, our savings account didn’t stand a chance. Back to the grind for 2025.

Read 85 books. Goal status: Not quite.

I managed to read 50 books—not bad, but definitely short of the goal. For 2025, I’m aiming for a more manageable 52 books (one per week feels realistic and not overwhelming).

Consistent work and childcare routine. Goal status: Nope.

This was a lofty goal for a chaotic year. We’ll try again in 2025.

Workout 3-4 times a week. Goal status: Partial success.

I actually crushed this one…until August. After that, life took over, and my routine fell apart. Still, I’m counting this as a win because I felt strong and consistent for most of the year.

Goals for 2025:

Workout 3x per week.

No overthinking, no perfectionism—just move my body three times a week, every week.

Get financially stable, pay myself a consistent salary, and work 20 hours per week.

It’s time to streamline my work schedule, get consistent with my finances, and prioritize balance between work and family life. I want to take on some more clients for web design & social media management, grow ExPressOn by Tay & keep my blog revenue going strong!

Read 52 books.

A book a week feels doable and fun. Plus, it gives me an excuse to keep sharing book recommendations with you! Hello Books, Lately book club!

Hit our savings account goal.

This is year four of chasing this number. Here’s to finally making it happen in 2025.

Finish all our house projects.

It’s time to check off the to-do list that’s been staring at us for years. A finished home feels like the fresh start we need. Plus, when it IS time for us to sell – we will be in a good spot.

2025 is all about building and maintaining momentum. I don’t expect to be perfect, but I do plan to keep moving forward. One step, one book, one project at a time. What about you? What are your goals for the year ahead? Drop them in the comments—I’d love to hear them and cheer you on.

Here’s to a new year, fresh starts, and a little chaos (because where’s the fun without it?).
