Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to #FASHIONWEDNESDAY! It is officially the middle of the week so, only two more days until the weekend. That’s dang exciting. I hope you all enjoyed the Zombie Tutorial feat. Adam on Monday (if you missed it — catch it here), I have watched it like 20 times and I laugh every time. My husband’s a comedian I swear. I still have 2 more Halloween makeup tutorials coming so don’t forget to come back for those. BUT FOR TODAY: I am focusing on my pretty ladies who are getting engaged this season! I am going to show you all 3 outfits that are PERFECT for your fall engagement session.

HOW TO DRESS FOR AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION

WHAT TO WEAR TO YOUR FALL ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Outfit #1: Dress up with a skirt and booties.

This was one of my favorite pictures. I knew I wanted fall colors the second Adam proposed last year, so I booked our photographer (Michelle + Logan Photography) literally three seconds after Adam got on one knee. We talked, and I told her that I wanted bright leaves and outdoor shots. That meant, weather permitting, I could wear those fall colors I so desperately wanted to break out. I found this purple skirt and matching necklace literally the day before our pictures. It is just the right pop of “berry” to the turning leaves. I had Adam in a navy button up for contrast (also he looks really good in navy) and khakis. ALSO: Michelle found a matching colored leaf to display my engagement ring on. #fate

Outfit #2: Casual with a sweater and jeans.

This outfit was perfect because it was way neutral. Adam wore the pop of color with a navy+red button up. We contrasted nicely with the red and yellow leaves. It was less dressy than our first outfit so we can show the world that we get ~d o w n~. It was very classic “fall”. Make sure you and your honey aren’t wearing the same colors at the same time. There needs to be neutral/pop of color balance between the two of you or it starts getting messy with too many colors.

I am the world’s biggest cardigan fan, and it really reminds me of the autumn season, so it is no surprise I chose to wear one for our engagement session. I chose a neutral grey button up for Adam. He stands out from the leaves, but doesn’t detract from the overall picture. I love berry, so I made sure to include that color in each outfit selection. I made sure that was really the only pop of color in each picture so that I didn’t have a mess of color.

So. Those are my 3 outfit suggestions when deciding what to wear for your fall engagement session. It is definitely my favorite time of year, and I will always be so happy that we got to take ours last fall when the colors were so spectacular. SO. My takeaway tips for you?

  1. Choose an accent color and plan all your outfits around it. That will help you create a cohesive look on your wedding invitations.
  2. Make sure you switch off who wears the accent color. Because it’s just plain rude to hog it all to yourself.
  3. Make sure you choose the right photographer. I love these pictures because they really capture the excitement and love Adam and I have for each other. That is the best part. Michelle is amazing because she makes you laugh and you are completely comfortable with her.

I hope that all my sweet engaged ladies find help in this post! It is such an exciting time in your life, to be engaged. I loved wedding planning. Our wedding could not have turned out any more perfect. I am still in awe. And, the best part is, after the wedding…you get to keep the love of your life forever! 🙂
