The summer is HERE!!!! I still can’t believe that it’s already the last day of May. Our weather is reaching daily temps of high 80s low 90s now, so you know what that means: pool weather! The kids and I go to the pool multiple times a week in the summer because the heat just is no joke. Most days I skip makeup for pool afternoons, however – if we have plans before or after, I often want to throw on something light so I’m not trying to touch up during the day. These are my HOLY GRAIL water-resistant makeup faves from the drugstore – so let’s dive in.
Water-Resistant Drugstore Makeup (Pool Day Edition)
This sunscreen is great, non-acne aggravating, and SPF30 (which is the minimum I recommend on your face). If you are going to be in the sun, you need to be wearing SPF so this will always be step one!
Now – the water-resistance on this foundation is unmatched which is why it’s listed here HOWEVER: I always mix it with my moisturizer to sheer it out before wearing because it is not joking about the full-coverage. And listen: if you want to be full-coverage, leave as is! I typically like something a little lighter on my face so I mix! OR – I skip this step and go straight to just concealing my under eyes and acne with the concealer mentioned below. Totally depends on your vibe.
I choose a really neutral, nude shimmer to put all over my lid in the summer and usually leave my shadow at that! Occasionally I will add my bronzer shade in my crease, but for the pool? A little summer shade is all you need.
I love this in their coral shade – it’s GORG for summer! It’s perfect for pool parties where you want to feel a little more put together. Otherwise, I generally just wear a gloss at the pool or my chapstick with SPF!
I almost never go anywhere without my brows done, so this is a must for me. It isn’t going to budge – EVEN if you dunk underwater.
This is the concealer I was talking about earlier! This is fabulous and fully waterproof. It’s not going anywhere even if you sweat or go under water. Most pool days – I just use this under my eyes and on my most inflamed acne overtop of a good tinted sunscreen.
I generally do waterproof mascara on my top lashes for pool days and this is such a good one! It comes off really easily with oil-based cleansers.
One of my favorite ways to do summer makeup is to smudge just the littlest bit of dark brown liner on my top lash line. It’s so “undone” in the best way. And once it dries, it’s there all day.
I always bring towelettes with me just in case I end up wanting to take my makeup off – and don’t forget any extra face sunscreen to reapply!!
