Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY, everyone!! Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite new trends of the season: Fruit. You may think I’m kidding but I am TOTALLY not. I love fruit accessories – and it started to kind of become popular last summer, but this year it really exploded in the world of handbags and jewelry. If you remember this monthly obsession post from last summer – you’ll recall that I was OBSESSED with pineapples. I had pineapple cups, shoes, earrings, sunglasses…#notsorry. I still LOVE pineapples (even though I am deathly allergic to them) and that is pretty much what kicked my fruit-accessory obsession into high gear this year, only I’m not restricting myself to just pineapples anymore. Let’s dive into this.
TREND ALERT: Fruit-Inspired Accessory Styles
Jewelry
I love a good pair of fruit earrings. I had my adorable pineapples last year – SO CUTE – and this year I’m rocking the cherry! You can range from small to large when it comes to this trend, but I tend to lean towards the bigger the statement piece, the better. 😉 Here are some AWESOME jewelry pieces to choose from:
Handbags
I love handbags that are shaped like other things and I don’t have nearly enough of them. I specifically love anything shaped like an orange, lime or lemon slice. So dang cute. BUT I will accept things like this cute lemon-inspired tote bag! The pun definitely helps it’s cool factor, too. 😀 This is the perfect example of how something can be totally fruit-inspired and on trend, but not too in your face or obnoxious. LOVE. Shoes
These are my throwback shoes from last summer – and just still so cute. I love slides and mules, and these are the perfect neutral, comfy slip ons you need this season. They are super cute with palm trees on one side and pineapples on the other (I kind of love mismatched shoes like that). There are a PLETHORA of fruit-themed shoes to choose from this year, and they don’t cost a fortune either.
PIN THIS FOR LATER:
I wouldn’t spend an arm and a leg dressing in this style – there are so many affordable options (ALMOST everything in this blog post is under $50, just FYI). In my opinion, trendy pieces that mostly likely will go out of style in 3 seasons or less shouldn’t be something you spend a large amount of money on. Instead, thrift some cute options or hit up Target and Amazon to get the best deals on super trendy styles.
