Happy #fashionwednesday! IT’S FINALLY HERE! MY Styled Christmas Shoot With Erin Stubblefield!!! I am obsessed with styled shoots lately (check our first wedding anniversary images here) so when Erin texted me two weeks ago and asked if I wanted to do an impromptu styled Christmas shoot….I obviously said yes PLEASE. I am SO blessed to have Erin as a dear, dear friend and gifted photographer buddy. Check out the results of our super fun styled shoot below – and grab some tips for next year’s Christmas cards (or this year’s, if you’re kind of slow on that whole Christmas card situation)!

Choosing the right color scheme.

Erin and I both decided right away we wanted to skip the typical red/white/buffalo plaid situation that shows up without fail each year around Christmastime (not that there is anything wrong at all with that – there is a reason it pops up each year – it’s very classic Christmas!!!). Erin thought plum or wine would be best for this fun styled shoot. We were able to find a wreath with a plum bow (I honestly didn’t think we’d be able to, so God Bless Erin) and Pinterested the heck out of the rest of our decoration.

Choosing your props.

I loved that fact that Erin thought to grab oversized ornaments to hang on spruce trees in the park we were in. How precious is that? I mentioned above we grabbed a wreath, too – but we also wanted a cozy little egg nog scene, as well. Erin had egg nog, cinnamon sticks, cookies and a super fuzzy blanket (that I kind of wanted to take home). You have endless options for a Christmas shoot so get creative!! Garland, stockings, Christmas pillows, etc.

Choose your outfits.

I grabbed my favorite Whiskey Neat dress (from my Blonde & Ambitious collection – check it out here) and a plum scarf and dressed Adam in a plum button down for our first outfit. It was purple, grey and muted – perfect for the season. For outfit numero dos, we decided on a grey sweater for Adam (he looks SO GOOD in sweater, my goodness) and a plum sweater for me. If you saw my Christmas card post here, you’ll notice it’s the same sweater. It’s SUPER comfortable and really cute. 10/10 would recommend.

Choose your location.

Because it’s chilly out, you’ll want to pick a spot that has several different areas that look like they aren’t the same location. We headed to forest park in St. Louis. We posed in front of the art museum, by a sweet little bridge and in a grove of spruce trees. Three different locations all within walking distance of each other!

Another tip to doing your Christmas styled shoot is to pick the right photographer. Erin is my go-to, always. I adore her and it helps that we are such good friends. It’s easy to laugh and pose for her, and Adam is comfortable with her as well. He’s a great sport when it comes to taking pictures with me, even though he doesn’t love it. Having someone we know, love and trust is key to getting the best photos!
