Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY, everyone! Fun fact: when I was shooting these images, we had to keep running in and out of the rain and somehow managed to get these images in like the 5 minutes of sunshine. #missourispring, amiright? This fun Wednesday, Adam and I are shooting with Erin Stubblefield for our 2nd anniversary images (see our first anniversary shoot here) and honestly, as I’m writing this, I’m really hoping it isn’t snowing or raining. FINGERS CROSSED. Anywho, today I’m sharing with you my absolute FAVORITE spring style #musthave of the season: GINGHAM MULES! These shoes are SO adorable and I love that gingham is so big in the spring and summer. Let’s dive into this.

Spring Style #MustHave: Gingham Mules
Step 1: Choose your mules.
This is the basis for your outfit so make sure you LOVE your shoes. I found these beauties at Kohl’s for less than $50 – and they also come in black! They’re from a newer brand at Kohl’s and I’m LOVING their shoe styles. These cuties have a sweet bow on top and just enough of a heel to make my legs look good without being uncomfortable. I’m linking up this exact pair AND four others for you to take a peek out.
Step 2: Grab a solid color top (or pair a contrasting pattern).
You don’t want to do gingham on top because it’s too hard to match the pattern exactly and looks SO busy altogether. I opted for a solid blue with small flower detailing. Floral and gingham look amazing together, but I didn’t want to overwhelm the outfit. I also knew when I bought these shoes that I would want a bell sleeve top to wear with it. It’s so springy, and bell sleeves are SO popular right now.
Step 3: Choose your jean color!
You have three colors really when it comes to jeans that pair well with black and white gingham shoes. Black, white and denim. I really wanted to do black originally, but it seemed a little dark for spring. I love white jeans, and it really brightened up the outfit. I have been wearing these white jeans several times a week with different tops because of how fabulous they make each spring outfit look. Pick your poison with denim, but make sure to stay light, bright and non-competing.
Step 4: Pick a bright purse to add a pop of color.
I am SO OBSESSED with this Ampersand As Apostrophe bag I picked up in Connecticut (read about my travels last month here). I didn’t even know this brand until that trip and now I need to own like four or five or ten (they have a melon color bag that is CALLING MY NAME). The leather is SO soft and the color is so bright and beautiful. I love that it has a detachable makeup bag inside and it is sturdy and durable. The pink color matched the flowers in my bell sleeved top PERFECTLY and tied the entire outfit together.
PIN THIS FOR LATER:
These shoes are SO versatile and they will last all the way through the end of summer. They’ll go well with all kinds of colors and styles. I can imagine pairing them with a red sundress, jean mini skirt and bell bottom jeans! There are endless outfits that these shoes can pair well with!
I hope you enjoyed this weeks style #musthave. Are you inspired to pick up a pair of these adorable mules? Let me know in the comments below!
I love thin, springy tops like the one that you are wearing. I love light layers that can be made warmer with a cardigan or can be made less thin with a cami. I have never been one for white jeans (a stain is bound to happen) but I will wear khaki on occasion.
Yes me too! White jeans are definitely scary to maintain but it looks so cute.
