Happy #fashionwednesday, everyone! AND happy almost end of February. It’s crazy how fast this month flew by. I feel like January was the world’s longest month and February was over in like half a second. Maybe it’s just the fact that I’m pregnant – everyone did say it would go by insanely fast (and it totally does once the first trimester is over). My belly has really popped over the last few weeks and I’ve had so much fun dressing it up while it’s still little-ish. It feels huge to me but I know we’ve got 20 more weeks of growing so it can only go up from here. LOL. This is a style I’ve been wearing a ton this trimester because it’s really comfortable and it shows off my cute lil’ bump (a win-win). Let’s dive into this.

Second Trimester Style: Chambray Peasant Top FOR SPRING
I actually have this particular top in two colors: this chambray style, and a linen white & blue striped style. That one looks really cute with white denim and I’m excited to wear it when it warms up just a bit more. I am sure once that happens – you’ll be seeing a lot more of it! I snagged these tops at Target a few weeks ago when all their maternity clothes were on sale. I got them each for $9 – which was AMAZING. Plus, while they look absolutely adorable on my 20 week bump, I know I’ll be able to grow into them and a get a ton of use out of them over the rest of my pregnancy. They aren’t too warm, so I think I’ll even be able to wear them in the summer with shorts! #score
Second trimester styling can be a bit difficult because you are kind of in the in-between stage (well, I am anyways – everyone’s bump is different!). I am not QUITE in full maternity clothes yet (except for jeans), so sometimes it can be hard to find something that is small enough in the maternity section for me to wear, but bigger than the clothes I currently own – because nothing really fits me anymore there, either. I had no idea this would be such a conundrum. It also opened my eyes to how close-fitting I wear my clothes on a regular basis because I really didn’t have very many things that stretched enough even for my second-trimester belly!
This kind of outfit is super easy to style – and you can adapt it to fit anytime! This is not a pregnancy-specific outfit whatsoever. It looks cute no matter what.
Here are my top tips when styling a peasant top for spring:
ONE: Choose one that accentuates your favorite features.
This seems like a no-brainer – but peasant tops can actually be kind of tricky when finding one that is flattering to your figure. Obviously, right now, I want my bump to steal the show. I chose a top that cinches right beneath my bust to really make that bump pop. If you want to accentuate your waist – tie closer to the smallest point above your hips! OR maybe your shoulders are the rockstars here: find a peasant top that is off the shoulder and totally flow-y everywhere else.
TWO: Pattern it up!
This one is plain – but like I mentioned before, I also bought it in white and blue stripes. It’s super fun and perfect for summer. It’ll pair adorably with some espadrilles or fun tassel necklaces or earrings when it heats up a bit. Go for something floral for spring (groundbreaking, I know) – or just pick a pop of color. I brought my pattern in with this fun floral bag and my pop of color in my coral colored scarf!!
THREE: Keep it comfortable.
The key to this outfit is keeping it chic, cute and comfortable all at the same time. It isn’t a tight top – so you should be easy and breezy in it. I paired mine with some black leggings & taupe booties because it’s cute AND comfortable. White jeans would also look REALLY cute with this outfit. I just don’t happen to have any at the moment that fit. #whoops #thanksbaby I think the black leggings keep this outfit winter appropriate (because let’s face it: it’s still snowing here) but the florals and chambray fabric bring it into spring.

I have really been loving maternity style, and it’s so much fun for me to find outfits that make me feel pretty and fashionable. I love that I have had a relatively easy time finding things that make me look and feel good in the second trimester, because I really struggled in the first trimester!! If you AREN’T pregnant – I hope this style guide still helped you find something that takes you easily from winter to spring this season. 🙂
Do you love chambray tops as much as I do?? Let me know your favorite way to style them in the comments below!
You are glowing sweets! I love your style
OK I love that chambray top but I’m a little distracted at how adorable you look with your baby bump! You would look good with literally anything with that cute accessory!
You are rocking maternity style! This is the perfect spring look too. I remember all the problems I had trying to get dressed when I was pregnant, and you’re right, you’ll just get bigger. In the end, I gave up haha. It was either boobs out or belly out…nothing covered both! haha!
You look sooo cute! I love the brighter colors (especially that peach scarf!). Such a nice change from the gloom of winter!
You and your little bump are too adorable! This outfit is so cute!
That scarf color is so pretty! I’m so ready for spring
