WHEW. Another month of 2020 in the books. And what a month it was. Truly..the world is changing and for the better. We’ve started to see some of our COVID19 restrictions lifting – we have been able to go to the zoo and the aquarium, outdoor seating at restaurants, walking downtown and browsing our favorite shops again (still practicing social distancing and washing our hands – and masks when required). I am not quite to the point where I feel super comfortable just browsing through stores like Target without a true agenda and shopping list – but maybe within the next month or so even that can feel more normal again. The tides are changing for racial inequality and I’m personally doing a lot of reading, reflecting, relearning and recognizing biases within myself and my home to start making changes within our family. We stand firmly on the right side of history and pray for equality for the black community. On a lighter note, this month I have a few monthly obsessions that I have REALLY been loving. Check them out below:
June 2020 Monthly Obsessions
The Ultimate No Show Socks
Originally, I found these socks from Erica on Cominguprosestheblog.com – and I became OBSESSED. They’re the only no-show socks I’ve ever worn that don’t slip off the back of my foot. They stay in place all. day. long. They come in 3 colors – white, Black and Tan. I ordered the 8-10 size because I wear a size 8 in shoes – however, I’d size down if you are an 8 because they were just a little big on my foot. The size down fits perfectly.
Cheeky Cloth Swim Diapers
These are AMAZING for little ones. They fit kiddos up to 40lbs and come in SO MANY cute patterns. We have 3 pairs so that we are always prepared when it comes to swimming. If we need to do a quick little switch, we’ve got an extra. It eliminates the need to buy a bunch of expensive swim diapers and they’re SO comfortable. No rash, no chafing. Can be worn alone or under swim suits or shorts.
Happy Camper Co. Pink Hat
Picked up this hat when we visited downtown St. Charles for the first time since quarantine started and I HAD TO HAVE IT. I am OBSESSED. I love the pink on pink and it’s just so stinking cute. It’s the perfect girlie baseball cap. I have been wearing hats a LOT lately and this was the perfect one to add to my collection. Plus this is one of my favorite brands so I was so happy to support locally again.
Erica created this DIY pink drink and I am OBSESSED. You need to read her directions so that you get the measurements right but oh my gosh. It tastes just like the real thing!
Designer in a Binder
I have been WAITING for this to come in since FEBRUARY. That’s when I ordered my binder! But it was totally worth the wait. I’m obsessed. It’s like an interior decorator in a binder and it’s fantastic for someone like me who is completely design challenged. It walks you through the exact process an interior decorator takes when decorating a home and gives you all the tools you need to do it yourself. I opted for the $79 deluxe package because I wanted the binder (it’s who I am as a person) and am SO happy I did!
Collections by Joya
I have really liked this jewelry designer for a while – but this bracelet was the first piece I had from them! I shopped their VIP sale a couple weeks ago and fell in love with some AWESOME pieces! They are so unique and super pretty. I love dainty pieces so this is the perfect collection for me.
Rock ‘Em Socks
I got Adam socks with Jack’s face on them for Father’s Day and they were a HIT. I laughed and laughed when they came in and I’m super obsessed. Adam. thought they were hilarious and he hasn’t stopped wearing them. 10/10 recommend for the men in your life.
Munchkin Click Lock Weighted Straw Sippy Cup
These have been awesome. Jack started boycotting bottles a little while ago but LOVES these sippy cups. Part of the reason he was over bottles was he had to lay down to drink them and he is SO busy and SO on the move right now – he wanted nothing to do with that. So instead, we switched to these. He can sit up and play, and drink when he feels like it. It’s a great way to make sure he’s getting water and milk while still allowing him to move around and play. The straw is weighted so it doesn’t matter what angle he’s drinking from. We have 2 colors – blue and green – one for milk and one for water!
Minted Birthday Cards for Jack
We are OBSESSED with Jack’s first birthday invitations!! His party theme is “One-der The Sea” (don’t worry – full blog post will come post-party) and these fit the bill perfectly. We LOVE Minted and we LOVE that they always have incredible turnaround times when it comes to ordering cards. We ordered these on a Friday and they arrived the following Tuesday!! So cute – and we got matching Thank You cards!
Mother & Son The Respect Effect by Emerson Eggerichs, PhD
I got this for Mother’s Day from my mom and I have been LOVING it so far. I don’t know a lot about boys having only grown up with a sister myself, and it’s always been intimidating to me that I would someday have an actual little boy to raise (not just this cute cherub-y baby). This book talks about what goes into a respectful mother-son relationship and it’s so eye-opening. We talk about how fathers need to love their daughters, but fail to recognize that little boys need their moms, too. If you are a boy mom, I highly recommend. It’s rooted in a faith perspective as well.
Overall – this has been a big month for many reasons. The world is shifting and I feel that 2020 is going to be a year taught about in history classes. It feels surreal to be living through that kind of monumental time.
