Happy LAST FRIDAY of January! It’s literally WILD that it’s already the last Friday of this month. I just celebrated my birthday last week and Adam’s is coming up next week – and as our typical tradition, we are celebrating tonight a little joint party for the two of us. We usually do hibachi at a Japanese Steak House but as I have not been able to stomach that during this pregnancy, we are skipping that and doing an Italian dinner and art museum instead! It should be super fun and sweet. I love that our birthdays are so close together. ANYWAYS – onto this blog post today: Monthly Obsessions! This month has been so fun for me because I get to start including baby things in my monthly obsessions now that everyone knows I’m pregnant! So let’s dive right into this.

Hearing My Baby’s Heartbeat

This is by far the coolest thing in the world besides actually seeing baby on an ultrasound. We got to hear bean’s heartbeat earlier this month and it’s so neat to hear that little thump on the sonogram machine. It’s also just super reassuring because baby isn’t big enough for me to feel them moving yet, so besides my pregnancy symptoms there isn’t anything external to remind me I’ve got a baby growing in there! It just feels super magical to have that physical reminder that we have a little one and they are doing well and are healthy.

My 2019 Jams Playlist

I’ve been playing this on repeat while I work in my office lately! It’s great background music and super easy listening. It’s that indie-pop style that is getting more popular and the songs are fun and catchy. I am adding new music to this every day so if you decide to follow the playlist – you can check back to see what new songs have been added. Another GREAT playlist option is my 2019 Jams Radio – it takes the music that I put in the playlist and shuffles those songs PLUS a bunch of similar musicians and songs to create a never-ending radio playlist for you. SO GOOD.

La Patisserie Chouquette Macarons

I LOVE macarons. They are my all-time favorite dessert. BUT. You’ve gotta get the right ones. Not just anyone can make a killer macaron. They are super difficult to make perfectly (I certainly can’t do it) but there IS a French bakery in downtown St. Louis that makes the most delicious macarons I’ve ever had. This year, my family surprised me with birthday ones filled with raspberry jelly and I’m literally eating them while typing this. SO good. 10/10. If you are in the area – you won’t be disappointed!

From Pea To Pumpkin Pregnancy Journal

I’ve been LOVING this journal for documenting this pregnancy. It’s so fun to be able to fill each week’s prompts out because I’m not a big journal-er and I do so much better with little prompts and questions to answer. It’s a great way to remember little bits about the past weeks and I will treasure the thoughts and feelings I had while pregnant with bean forever. There are spots to put your ultrasound pictures in so you have those memories as well.

Gold Teardrop Earrings from Francesca’s

I AM OBSESSED WITH THESE. Clearly. But they are SO simple and yet such a statement all in one. They’re a nice size – not too small but not overwhelmingly big, either. They were $12 from Francesca’s. I like the dainty feel they give an outfit and they match just about everything. I’ve been wearing them constantly since I got them at the beginning of the month.

DNA tests – for humans and for dogs

OK. Adam and I both got the DNA tests for Christmas and we got one for Archer, as well. It was SO much fun finding out everyone’s DNA make up. For Adam and I, we wanted to know where our genetic make up was from so we could do family history work and do more genealogy. It gives a great place to start, and shares a bunch of second-fifth cousins that have also done this DNA test so it immediately connects you with people you are related to which is SO cool.

For Archer, we really wanted to know what breeds made up our cute little mutt. We were told he was some kind of Shepherd-Hound mix, and he does look like that. But as he got older, I started to suspect he probably had some pitbull in him because of his forehead and eyes. We got his results back – and he was a lot different than we thought! He is mostly American Staffordshire Terrier (a close cousin to the pitbull – so that makes total sense), with some German Shepherd, Rottweiler and Golden Retriever! Now we know!

The Think Big Workshop

If you missed it – me and one of my favorite humans in the world (Erin Stubblefield) run a business branding + marketing workshop called The Think Big Workshop. It’s an all-day event that goes through every facet of branding and marketing your small business. We had our very first one January 10th and it could NOT have gone better. I am so proud of the way it came together and we are so excited to be working on the next one for those who couldn’t make it the first time around. We had incredible feedback from our attendees and I know that it was a game changer for some of them. Click here to learn more about our workshop + stay tuned for my blog post recap of the entire experience!

My hollywood-style vanity mirror

I just got this for my birthday and I am OBSESSED. This mirror pretty much completes my office – and I’m just waiting on a few more pieces to come in for my big office tour! It’s so classy and modern. If you follow me on IG – you’ll remember a few weeks ago I posted a review on amazon for a mirror that was absolutely HILARIOUS. Basically single-handedly got me to purchase this mirror. I swear it’s everything she said it was and MORE. LOL. I have this saved in my instastory highlights so if you haven’t read the review yet – you have to. It’s a great laugh.

Blush Pink Adidas Superstars

I got these for Christmas, too, and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. Literally. I love my original superstars but my favorite color in the world is Millennial Pink so having my favorite shoes in my favorite color is the literal best. They go with everything and are beyond comfortable. If millennial pink isn’t your fave, there are so many other colors to choose from like black, mint green, light blue, and lavender!

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Lip Cream (variety of colors)

Erica from Coming Up Roses was the first one to turn me onto these. I wasn’t sure because they seemed like every other lipstick – but I was SO wrong. These are SO comfortable on the lips, they wear so beautifully throughout the day (starting out rich and glossy and fading to a nice stain), and they are relatively inexpensive at $8 a pop. They have a variety of colors so there is bound to be one you LOVE.
