HAPPY #beautymonday, everyone!! I have been on a roll with foundation review tests and I am loving it! I have another one coming up in a few weeks, too! I always look for foundation wear tests when I am purchasing new foundations, so I hope you find these helpful. Today, I am wearing and reviewing the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Skin Milk Foundation. They sent over the whole range, and I put it to the test in a super long wear test. Spoiler: it has become my go-to foundation after wearing it for a few days. I’m totally in love. I think I’ve worn it every day for the last week and a half, too. For reference, my skin type is: oily in my t-zone, dry on my cheeks, acne-prone with acne scarring. I also have fine lines on my forehead and under my eyes (no botox here). Let’s dive into this.

REVIEW:

I am using the shades Fair and Porcelain mixed together to make my perfect shade. They have quite a few shades available that range from light to dark, but I would say their super light shades and super dark shades are lacking. There are LOTS of middle range shades. There isn’t anything lighter than porcelain, which will be too dark on super fair skin tone and they really only have 2 deep shades. There is one call “deep” that’s the third darkest, but it’s really more of a dark medium tone. The true dark shades are only 2 and still are more “milk chocolate” than anything else. They ARE sheer, so you do get a little more leeway with that because they won’t be super high coverage with their pigment – so hopefully those who are darker can get away with that deepest shade.

The formula is really awesome – it’s very liquid-y and sheer but surprisingly buildable!! 1.5 layers usually does the trick for me. I put my acne covering concealer on first, then apply the foundation, then do my eye brightening concealer third. It does NOT look cake-y on my skin, and it melts really nicely in once it’s been warmed up on my face a little bit. Something else I really like is that it does not seem to oxidize on my skin. The color it applies is the color it stays.

12pm:

This is upon first application! It is smooth, covered and melted into the skin. You can see some texture, but my acne scarring is mostly covered.

3:30pm:

3 hours later! It’s looking pretty much the same here, but you can see fine lines around my mouth.

6pm:

6 hours in. Some of my acne scarring and pimples are starting to show through around my mouth and chin, but overall still looks good elsewhere.

11:45pm:

I look ROUGH at almost midnight LOL help. Around my nose is a little cake-y, obviously the acne scarring is more obvious. BUT still not terrible!

It wears really beautifully throughout the day, stay put even through eating, drinking, talking, baby kisses, midday naps, dog slobber, etc. I did set it with my urban decay all nighter spray but I set ALL my foundations with that, so I can get an accurate read on how this foundation will last when I wear it like normal. It did start to come off my chin and nose a little bit there at the end (you can see that last check in in the video) – but as I am not usually wearing my foundation for 10-11 hours, that doesn’t bother me. [

I DID hear some people complain about breaking out after starting to use this foundation with little bumps on their cheeks. I did not have this reaction – but I wanted to mention it in case you have sensitive skin. I even have acne-prone skin and didn’t have an issue, but definitely do a patch test first just to make sure you don’t have a reaction.

I also want to state this is NOT a full coverage foundation. If you are looking for something that will cover every imperfection – this is NOT it. I can still see some of my acne and scarring, my natural freckles are not covered and I still have to use a color corrector on my redness if I want that completely hidden. That is how I prefer to wear my foundation these days because I like spot concealing imperfections instead of a full coverage base. SO just keep that in mind!

PIN THIS FOR LATER:

I hope seeing these foundations stand the test of the day IRL is helpful for you guys – I know it always is for me. If you have similar skin to me, you can expect it to perform pretty dang similarly. Don’t forget to actually watch the video to see it in action over the course of the day!

Have you tried this foundation yet?? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. You’re the first person online I’ve seen who’s mentioned breaking out. Thank you <3!! I usually don't wear any kind of foundation or concealer and tried wearing this to hide some redness and after two to three weeks of wearing it every other day (keeping up with my regular skin care and using makeup remover) I'm breaking out all over :'(
I'm glad you didn't have the same reaction <3
