Happy #beautymonday, everyone!! It’s time for another BoxyCharm unboxing. You guys know how much I love this subscription box. It’s my all-time favorite for makeup and I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to up their makeup game and collection. They often have full sized eyeshadow palettes and makeup brushes – which make it so affordable to add these things to your collection without breaking the bank. I really loved this month’s box – it’s full of all kinds of fab goodies and I’m super stoked to share the box with you. Let’s dive into this.
BOXYCHARM UNBOXING + REVIEW | APRIL 2019
The theme for this month is Peace, Love & Boxy. It’s got a very festival-esque vibe to it and you can definitely see yourself wearing the products all throughout summer. I personally love that each box has a theme and that all the products really flow well together. Even the eyeshadow palette colors match brush handle colors. It makes my type A personality so happy.
Pur | Festival Palette – $36.00
This palette is kind of overwhelming at first. It definitely isn’t a palette you can use on it’s own because it really does need transition shades. BUT. I love Pur – they have really great quality shadows and I’m never disappointed in how they perform (plus they are cruelty free). The whole top row is shimmer ranging light to dark. They are very glittery and seem to be best applied with your finger. The second row has a really gorgeous orange matte, and a glittery purple and matte hot pink. They’re super pretty if used as an accent color. The last shade in this row is a straight up gold glitter. I only recommend using this if you have a glitter adhesive handy – otherwise you end up with glitter ALL OVER YOUR FACE. The last row has a nice rich chocolate matte and red-brown matte, a sparkly orange and then another straight glitter (pink + gold). It would be a super fun companion palette to bring if you are going somewhere tropical this summer!
Luxie | The Summer Daze 3pc Brush Set – $28.00
I am OBSESSED with Luxie brushes. They are some of my absolutely favorites. I love when BoxyCharm includes them because they almost always come in packs of 3. I definitely do not NEED more brushes at this point, but I love trying new shapes and sizes, and some of my all time favorite brushes have been included in my boxes. This box comes with a small contouring brush to define your nose + cheekbones (although I think it’s a little small for cheeks), a large shader brush and a small flat shader. I can NEVER have to many flat shaders. I’m obsessed with them. They are PERFECT for cut creases and glitters.
Artist Couture | Diamond Glow Powder – $27.00
This powder is gorgeous. I got the shade Summer Haze (I think they vary depending on your box) – and it’s really gorgeous. It is a champagne with golden undertones. At first I thought it would be too dark on my light skin tone – but it’s actually the perfect shade. It looks stunning as a highlighter, of course – but also as an inner corner and brow bone highlight, as well. The packaging is a bit difficult to use but it’s not impossible. I am also loving the fact that this brand is vegan, all-natural and cruelty free.
Butter London | Power Up Mascara – $20.00
I’m pretty picky with my mascaras, but I really love this brush and I love that it is ultra black. I really like using this on it’s own – or paired with a lengthening mascara. It also makes a really nice base coat before putting on falsies. It’s got a thick handle so it’s easy to hold and use, which is great, and it claims to have water resistant polymers to reduce smudging and flaking. I didn’t notice any but I don’t have super watery eyes, so just keep that in mind.
Starlooks | Ultra-Gem Longwear Eye Pencil – $19.00
This eye pencil is a LOT. It’s bright lavender glitter. It’s definitely super pretty – but I think this product was a miss for me this time around. I think it’s hard to put on and get the pigment bright, and it’s almost impossible to use over top of eyeshadow. Maybe if you were just going for something subtle it would work a lot better. I thought maybe a waterline application would help but it really didn’t show up at all. Kind of a bummer – but you can’t win them all!
I hope that this blog post, as always, helps you determine whether or not you want to dive in and sign up for the BoxyCharm subscription service (or, if nothing else, helped you find a new product to try in the near future)! I truly do love it and I think it’s a great makeup collection investment.
