Happy FRI-YAY!!!! This week has been really long for some reason – but I’ve been CRAZY productive so I’m feeling okay about it. I can’t believe the LAST week of January is almost here. Where did the month go?! My hubby’s birthday is on the 31st and we can’t wait to celebrate. He’s going to be 27! Woo-hoo!!! Today’s post is a long overdue Q+A. I’ve been keeping a list of questions for my next Q+A and had you guys send some in last night as well. I have been really excited to do one of these again – as last years was SO successful. SO. Without further ado, let’s dive into this question and answer sesh!

What is your #1 piece of advice when starting a blog or small business? 

I got several variations of this one – so here goes: treat it like a business from the get-go. Keep detailed records, meet with an accountant, make everything legal. It will make life SO MUCH EASIER in the long run, and if it doesn’t work out, you are no worse for wear. Don’t get behind – it makes it so difficult to catch up and you will be thankful you kept such good records.

What do you use to edit your photos? What camera do you use?

I use Lightroom to edit my photos! I have some custom presets I like using, too. My camera is a Canon T6 and I love it. I use it to film my youtube videos, as well as product shots and some outfit pictures. I do use a professional photographer (Erin Stubblefield – she’s amazing) for about 2/3 of my outfit shots and I do not know the ins and outs of her editing process. 🙂

Are you actually going to do a makeup masterclass for local followers?

Yes – I believe so!! I am planning on it being sometime in April or May – so be on the lookout for more info regarding that if you live in the area. Stay tuned! 

What makeup item can you never leave the house without putting on?

It’s a toss up between eye brows and concealer. I used to say mascara, but that’s been changing lately. I’ve been really trying to be more skin focused with my makeup routine and embracing my natural face. This year I want to be just as comfortable in my skin makeup-free as I am with a full glam face on!

Has your blogging “why” changed over the last two years?

My original why (all the way back in 2015 when I started this blog for a class in college) was to help college students learn how to study for their classes more effectively…..so I’d say I definitely shifted directions. When I relaunched after my wedding in 2016, my why changed to a lifestyle blog that helps women feel comfortable in their own skin. Now, in 2018, my blog has shifted once again to be primarily beauty focused with some lifestyle thrown in – but the why is still the same. 🙂

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food in the WORLD is fried rice. It’s a toss up between Japanese fried rice and Thai fried rice. I love them both. If it were up to me I would eat it every day. And also cream cheese. I love cream cheese.

What advice would you give to a 13-year-old Taylor?

Don’t date until college. 😉 But actually – the advice I would give 13 year old Taylor is to realize that YOU are the only person that can define your worth. Not mean girls, not mean boyfriends, not stupid teachers…YOU are the only one who defines what you are worth. And you are worth SO SO MUCH. You are smart, funny and important. Hold on to those things.

How did you know your husband was the one?

Oh boy. This is a good one. My husband is my best friend. I knew he was the one I was going to marry about 3 months into our relationship – but we didn’t say “I love you” until we’d be dating about 5 months. We were sitting in my apartment watching a movie, and he was laughing and he looked over at me and smiled and I thought – I want to sit on a couch watching silly movies with this man for the rest of my life forever. And I never looked back. 

Where is your happy place?

I would say my happy place is on the beach somewhere tropical with my hubby. With a virgin mojito, a good book and a floppy sunhat. YES PUH LEASE.

What would you want to do if you weren’t blogging?

I would want to be a cosmetic chemist! My degree is in biochemistry so those skills would be put to great use that way. 

What is your favorite song right now?

Anything from The Greatest Showman, honestly. It’s been on repeat for the last month.

Do you have a favorite movie?

See above…The Greatest Showman! I am OBSESSED. I’ve seen it 3 times in theaters and am counting down the days until it comes out on Blue Ray. If you haven’t seen it yet – go see it before it’s out of theaters. IT IS AMAZING. 

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? What is your Myers-Briggs personality?

I would say I am an introverted extrovert! My Myers-Briggs personality is INTJ – Introverted, intuitive, thinking, judging – aka, The Mastermind! Let me know yours in the comments below.

Would you consider yourself a messy or organized person?

I am very organized when it comes to my records, and I do a deep clean once or twice a week. I am not always great at  cleaning up as I go and then I panic and clean everything at 11pm at night. 

What advice do you have for someone getting married young?

My advice for getting married young is to do what is best for you. I was 21 years old when I got married, 2o when I got engaged. I wouldn’t change it for the world. My husband and I get to grow together. Get married young if it’s right for you and your S.O. My advice is to ignore the haters. 😉

Favorite thing that happened to you because of your blog?

MY BEST FRIENDS and being able to work from home. I love working from home – it’ll be even better when we have kiddos one day. But the #1 blessing would be the friends I’ve made. I am a better person because of it.

Favorite type of clothing item?

My favorite type of clothing is athleisure. I love joggers, Adidas, loose tees and baseball caps lately. I used to be more ~classy Jen~ but now I am a lot more casual and I’m not mad about it. It’s almost painful to wear jeans now!!!
