Happy FRI-YAY, friends! I am so excited that it is the end of another week. We are halfway through April and well on our way to May (say WHAAAT). I am super excited because we got some sneak peeks back from our anniversary shoot and they are as dreamy and magical as my heart wanted them to be. PICTURES TO COME! I am ALSO super excited because today’s post is one I’ve been sitting on for QUITE some time. I guess now is the time to share it. 🙂 Let’s jump into this.

Why it is OKAY to be totally different.

why it is okay to be different

This post is sponsored by Boutiqueme.com, personalized gifts for the unique YOU. All opinions are mine and mine alone.

So. Let’s start off by saying I am a country music girl. I have run full force into Lauren Alaina (she’s totally fab) and her song, Road Less Traveled, came on the radio. I’ve had it on repeat for three days. But I want to highlight the phrase that got me thinking and became the inspiration of this post:

If you trust your rebel heart, ride it into battle
Don’t be afraid, take the road less traveled

I love love love this because I think we all have a unique and amazing purpose in this world. God put you here to do something NOBODY else can do. It’s our job to break free from the mold and discover that.

why it is okay to be different

Being different gives you a different perspective. This should go without saying, but when you embrace the fact that you see things differently from other people, you can work together with those around you to solve problems in an incredibly dynamic way. That is how you change the world.

Being different DOESN’T mean you are ugly, strange, weird or any other hurtful or meaningless descriptive word. It means you are beautiful and unique and wonderfully made. Being different means you can do your eye makeup in a completely unusual way or pull off a dress that few others can or create music nobody has heard before. Creativity is endless.

Being different means you can ignore the expectations everyone has for you. The world is full of pressures. Pressure to be the right weight, pressure to be the right height, pressure to be the right race, pressure to be the smartest, pressure to be the prettiest. The list is literally endless. When you decide it’s OKAY to be different, you can let go of some of those pressures. All YOU need to worry about is being better than the person you were yesterday.

Being different means that people might not agree with you. This is ALSO okay. If you bump heads with some people, that is OKAY. Keeping your head high and your opinions your own is part of life. Don’t waiver just because someone thinks they can step all over you.

why it is okay to be different

So…how can you start embracing your uniqueness? There are tons of ways. You can pick up a hobby you’ve been dying to FINALLY try. Buy those shoes you are afraid nobody else with like but you LOVE. Or, you can start small by personalizing your phone case.

I chose to go with my B&A logo and my monogram. I know this will be a conversation starter that will allow me to share my love for blogging and influencer marketing. What will your phone case say about you?

There are plenty of options to choose from and you can choose ANY image or phrase you want. Make this YOURS.

  1. I used to try so hard to fit in and I was always so unhappy! I’m a bit weird so once I embraced that, it actually got people more interested in being my friend because it was different!

  2. I love people that are okay being different and just themselves! I’ve gotten better at this over the years – I’ve been trying new things and getting out of my comfort zone. I guess one way I did that is joining a tap/jazz class a few years ago even though I’d NEVER taken a dance class in my life. I loved it though!

  4. I love the cases at Boutique Me. They have so many cool designs on sturdy cases. My current case has a pic of the family when I was pregnant with my daughter. I’m going to have to get a new on though. My daughter is gonna get jealous, lol

  5. I love this message! I couldn’t agree more, being different is TOTALLY okay and actually it’s way better! We all need to embrace our inner nerds 🙂 and I’m also obsessed with Lauren Alaina’s “Road Less Traveled” song!

  6. Legit, feel like you just described me perfectly! I was always told I was weird growing up, which I now use to describe people in a positive way. Like I owned that weird, ya know? this is such a great post/reminder!

  7. I can relate to this. In fact, my season of being different started 5 years ago – I am the ONLY one out of my group of friends that isn’t married yet but you know what, I’ve started a blog, two side businesses and in MBA school with a full time job. I can choose to bask in all that God has set forth for me or I can choose to pity myself for what I don’t have. Amen to
This and thank u so much for the reminder. God Bless and Happy Easter!

  8. Beautiful post, it really is important to be different and be yourself! I really love that phone case!

  9. It’s always okay to be different! It’s merely just expressing yourself and being who you were meant to be rather than going along with society and being who they want you to be.
