Happy FRI-YAY! We MADE it. It is the weekend and I am beyond ready to jump right into the weekend. I tried to jump on the unicorn frappe train yesterday but my Starbucks was OUT, but I DID get a pedicure so I am fairly stoked about that situation. My toes were in DIRE need of some TLC. ANYWAYS, jumping right into today’s post: The Factory Fashion Show in St. Louis. I was lucky enough to be invited as press to this show, and had an absolute BLAST. The designs were amazing, and I got to take Erin (from Erin Stubblefield Photo) as my +1. I’m here to bring to a few tips to attending (and rocking) your first fashion show.
The Factory Fashion Show in St. Louis

What IS the Factory Fashion show? This show was all about revealing new collections from St. Louis’s TOP fashion designers. The Factory presents an empowerment of local talent and a synergy of designers, artists, musicians, and makers. It was a really cool collection of individuals.

I have never attended a St. Louis fashion show before and is definitely something I will want to do again. Going to your first fashion show can be excited and nerve-wrecking, especially if you are an aspiring fashion blogger. Here are my TOP tips to keeping your cool and rocking this.

Tip #1: Dress up.
This would seem like a no brainer, but there were tons of people in attendance wearing jeans and t shirts. It isn’t appropriate for the venue, and the invitation specifically stated “dressy” as the dress code. If you want to turn heads and get noticed, dress up (and maybe even a little dressier than you need to be).

Tip #2: Mingle, and mingle a LOT.
I failed at this my first fashion show, so learn from my mistakes. There are designers, investors, photographers, bloggers, event planners and more attending this event. NETWORK, girlfriend. Bring your pretty business cards and pass those suckers out. Shake hands, make eye contact and take down names. Get THEIR business card as well. Get your name known around the venue.

Tip #3: Be respectful of the designers.
You may not like certain designs (and that’s totally ok). But what ISN’T ok is pointing and laughing, making loud remarks or talking rudely after the show. The designers usually mingle after the show and they may overhear you. While it is natural to understand not everyone likes everything, it is still hurtful and it isn’t tactful at all. Do what you want behind closed doors, but keep it professional on the scene.

Tip #4: Take lots and lots of pictures.
You are allowed to bring your nice camera, so whenever possible, take pretty pictures to post on your social media later. Live stream the show for your followers, instastory your favorite looks and post tons of pictures! If you are invited to be press for a show, then by golly, be the press! Get behind the scenes shots, runway shoes and post-show shots.

Tip #5: Get there early.
If you want to ensure you have the best spot possible (you won’t always get to be front row VIPs like me 😉 ), you want to get to the venue early. It is entirely possible you will be in the standing only section and you won’t see much if you are in the back. Get there early, plan accordingly and wear shoes that won’t kill your feet.

I hope this helps those of you who are getting ready to attend your first shows. I would LOVE to hear your tips about what you should and shouldn’t do at a fashion show. Leave me a comment below with your favorite piece of advice!!

This is really great info! I have never been to a fashion show but I will definitely keep these things in mind. I boggles my mind to think some people would show up in anything less than dressy. Especially if that’s what the invite said.
This looks like so much fun! Great advice!
