AHHH home at last after a weekend away for a wedding in Montana. We had the BEST time celebrating love with my extended family as my sweet cousin married the love of her life! Neither Adam nor I had ever been to Montana so we were excited to check that off our list of states that we’ve been (outside of airports, of course). Even though it was a bit rainy and chilly, it was BEAUTIFUL. The mountains and the light drizzle were a little bit magical – plus, they say rain on a wedding day is good luck!! We braved the wedding weekend with our almost 2 year old and had a blast. Here’s a recap of our trip!
WEEKEND IN MONTANA
Friday: Travel Morning + Exploring Afternoon
9:00am – Flight out of STL to Missoula. We woke Jack up about an hour early for our trip and he was a trooper all day. He slept on the second leg of our flight and was really well behaved. We came prepared with Moana on the iPad, the Poke-A-Dot book, lots of matchbox car trucks and his Lovey.
2:00pm – Landed in Missoula! We snagged a late lunch at 5 Guys on the way to the Residence Inn (where we stayed). I recommend using the valet parking because the street parking is really tricky.
4:00-6:00pm – Cocktails and family mingling on the patio of the hotel! We were able to meet up with everyone who had flown in for the hotel and enjoyed some light drinks/snacks on the patio. Jack ran around greeting everyone and got tons of energy out.
7:00pm – Jack’s bedtime – and family dinner. Adam stayed in the hotel room to put Jack to bed while I went to dinner with my extended family. We ate at El Camino (It’s attached to the hotel). I don’t know HOW highly I’d recommend it only because I am not that fancy. HA! The chips, salsa and guac were phenomenal but the menu itself is a bit intimidating.
Saturday: Family Day + Wedding Night
10:00am – Sobbacycle ride with my aunt & cousin! We kicked our day off with a cycle ride at the SobbaCycle attached to the hotel. It was super fun and a great way to get a workout in while on vacation. My legs are still sore. HA.
12:00pm – Lunch with my fam! Adam went hiking with my aunt and cousins, and I stayed back with Jack and went to lunch with my parents, grandparents and uncle! We ate at Tamarack, a pub-style food joint. It’s about a 3 minute walk from the hotel and it was SO yummy. 10/10 recommend. Adam ended up eating at the Notorious P.I.G. and also highly recommended it!
2:00pm – Get ready for the wedding! We all met back at the hotel and went up to our rooms to get ready.
4:00pm – The sitter arrived for Jack! He did AMAZING with her and I don’t think he missed us at all. 😉 The bride and groom booked our sitter for us and paid for her. They wanted us to be able to enjoy the ceremony and reception and it was absolutely amazing of them to do that.
5:00pm-11:00pm – WEDDING TIME! We had the best time watching Emma marry Rylan and an even better time dancing the night away.
Sunday: Family Morning + Travel Afternoon/Evening
11:00am – Family brunch! Emma & Rylan held a brunch post-wedding night for everyone to grab breakfast on their way out and for everyone to get a chance to say goodbye before we all jetted off back home.
2:00pm – Flight back from Missoula to STL!
We seriously couldn’t have asked for a better quick weekend away. We had SUCH a wonderful time seeing my extended family and I’m a serious sucker for weddings.
