The last time I wrote a blog post was roughly three months ago. I so apologize for my absence! Between finals for school and GETTING MARRIED…I just didn’t have time to write or photograph anything for Blonde and Ambitious. But I missed you guys! I wrote down a million and one ideas for posts and now that Adam and I are finally settled into our new apartment, I can do something about that.

To begin with, I will do a little recap so everyone can get caught up.

I am a married woman. On April 9th, I married the love of my life in St. Louis, MO. It was an absolute dream. Here are some of the beautiful pictures my photographer, Michelle Peterson, took of me and my handsome groom (go look at her website, drool a little, then hire her for your next event):

Yes, I cried when she sent me these sneak peeks…

and also. We got a cat. His name is Felix and I’m a slightly (okay 100%) obsessed with his furry little face.

So now that you are all caught up with what is happening on this end of the screen. I do have a real post for you today. It’s short and sweet but I have some other things cooking for you right now, I’m just waiting until I have a spare moment to have my picture taken.

The Real Post For Today:

Waterproof Mascara and The Thing I Found That Makes It Worth It.

I love mascara. It always pulls my makeup together and makes me feel like a million dollars and I am forever looking for a mascara that will make my lashes both full and long. And a year or so ago, I decided to try Too-Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara and it won everything. It is everything I have ever looked for in a mascara and more. The problem was…it didn’t come in a waterproof formula and so what the heck was I supposed to wear for my wedding??? (and also every day because oily eyelids, amiright? unless you don’t suffer from that particular situation, then goody for you) Anyways. like 2 weeks before I was supposed to say “i do” to my goofball of a husband, it happened. Too-Faced answered my prayers and debuted: Better Than Sex: Waterproof. I immediately ordered it (along with three of their Melted: Liquid Lipsticks — if you haven’t tried these yet, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. I wear them on the daily. More to come on those later).

Let me talk about Too-Faced for a moment. I have recently become an addict to this company. I used to be strictly Urban Decay..but Too-Faced kinda won my heart because not only are they cruelty-free (unlike too many other quality makeup brands — ahem. MAC), but their marketing and design team knows what’s up. I will admit: I buy things 40% on whether or not the packaging is pretty. If I can’t display it on my bathroom counter proudly, I just won’t buy it. I’m spending good money on something and I want it to look nice. Too-Faced has that locked down. I am now the proud owner of 3 Melted Liquid Lipsticks, their face primer, two blushes, and the Better Than Sex mascara (both waterproof and not).

Okay now that I have bragged about Too-Faced Cosmetics, I will get back to the post at hand. Better Than Sex: Waterproof. It’s a miracle and I probably will never use another mascara again. The ONLY downside to this mascara (and every single waterproof mascara) is that is doesn’t like to come off at the end of the day. I am not the kind of person who can sleep in her makeup, and I have to be able to take off my mascara without rubbing my eyelashes so hard that they all fall out and I have a million eye wrinkles and everything goes to heck. I was about to throw in the towel. This mascara rocked. It lasted through my wedding, my reception, my amazing caribbean cruise honeymoon…it didn’t smear when it touched my eyelids…but I could NOT get it off.

So back to Sephora I went. I decided if I couldn’t wear the waterproof formula, I would at least get another bottle of the regular formula because even though it had a tendency to smear a little bit, at least I could get it off at night. And then I saw it. Right underneath the Better Than Sex Mascara display. A little bit hidden, slightly forgotten about. One lone bottle:

Too-Faced Mascara Melt Off

I had no idea this was about to be a game changer for all things waterproof mascara for me. The description states that it uses a unique oil formula to melt off waterproof mascara for easy removal. THIS WAS LITERALLY WHAT I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR. No more pulling my eyelashes out! I bought it two seconds later and tried it out when I got home. I’m not going to lie. I had some doubts. Could it really be as good at it said? I coated my lashes from root to tip in this oily mascara (it comes on a wand so you just swipe it on) and let it sit for 60 seconds before grabbing my makeup wipe.

LADIES: I didn’t even have to rub. It wipes off like an actual dream. This is real life. You, too, can wear waterproof mascara and have eyelashes at the end of the day. I guess what I’m trying to say is yes, you need this and yes, you should run to your nearest Sephora store asap. I will now be able to use the rest of this mascara without fearing for my eyes.

  1. I love this! I stopped wearing waterproof mascara because it was too hard to get off. I just prayed that I wouldn’t cry! I’ll have to try this out!

  2. Congrats on being married & the new addition to the family! Mascara is a must for me too. Even if I don’t put eyeshadow or eyeliner on, I have to have mascara on. I’ve been needing to replace mine so thanks for the reccomendation.
