Yo yo yo PARTYYYY PEOPLE! It’s Fri-YAY, which means the weekend is here and we can officially put on a face mask, sip on our virgin margaritas (for some of us) and hang out with our cats (aka the recipe for success in life). Today is a post I’ve been so excited about (for many reasons), but mostly because my sweet husband thought up the idea all by himself. LOL (but that’s actually true). He is the most wonderful man I know, and here are his thoughts on the lessons he’s learned by being married to a full-time lifestyle blogger. Introducing: Tales of a Blogger’s Husband.

Tales of a Blogger’s Husband:

What I’ve Learned From Being Married to a Fashion and Makeup Blogger

Until I buy the rights for BlondeandManbitious.com (which would definitely be a hit, by the way), I’ll have to settle for writing a few guest posts here.  Being married to a blogger has been quite the experience this last year. Taylor has gone from receiving packages maybe once a week to now receiving multiple packages daily. All of these awesome companies want to work with her, and they send her all of these great makeup products and clothing that she gets to share with you. Besides the fact that Taylor has daily mini Christmases, I have learned quite a few lessons about makeup, clothes, and women in general that I want to talk to you about.

#1 Makeup is a form of art.

I have given up trying to fight my wife for the bathroom in the morning while we are both getting ready for the day. I’ll happily brush my teeth in the kitchen and shave without a mirror so that she can work on her art. Whether she is putting on one of her 50 shades of lipstick, trying a different technique with eyeliner for those wingy things, or making that blush pop, it is all with skill and technique. It’s truly an art, something that she has accomplished with thousands of hours of practice. It only enhances her natural beauty.

#2 Makeup and clothes only add to who you are.

My wife could walk around without makeup in her pajamas and I would still think she is beautiful. I know she doesn’t put on the makeup or clothes for me. She does it for herself. When she rocks that sequin bomber jacket and cut off jeans, that is all for her, and while I thought sequins died along with my grandmother, she kills it. I love that the way she does her makeup and dresses herself only introduces who she is to the world. Her style isn’t preppy or nerdy, or whatever classes we were automatically sorted into in college and high school. She has made her own brand that shows her sparkly, powerful, and wonderful personality.

#3 Women are amazing.

Taylor started getting seriously into blogging when we were two newly married college students working part-time jobs, which eventually turned into Taylor quitting work so she could focus more on the blog and taking 18 credits for her last semester of school. Blogging has helped her be who she is and share that beauty with over 20,000 followers. I enjoy reading the articles, and reading the (nice) comments she receives from her followers. It’s quite an amazing network of women building each other up. I know that Taylor has grown with her blogging, and I hope you’ve enjoyed watching her grow as much as I have.

Tales of a Blogger's Husband

Raise your hand if you are melted into a puddle on the floor right now (no? just me? #sorrynotsorry). THIS GUY. That was 100% him (except that he almost thought eyeliner was the same thing as mascara so we had a little talk about that).

But seriously. This dude learned how to master the art of photography for me so that I could have pretty pictures on my blog, listens to me talk endlessly about anything blogging related and puts up with me, apparently, hogging the bathroom mirror (who knew?).

Anyone who has a S/O in their life and is a blogger, probably shares all these same sentiments with each other. It’s not easy building your brand from the ground up, but it is made easier when the people we love support us 100%.

Let me know in the comments below how your S/O helps you through your life (whether blogging or something else)! I love love love LOVE.

  1. LOVE THIS! Totally sharing with my husband tonight (: All so true, my husband was a little reluctant at first (he’s super shy and hates attention on him EVER, especially in public!) but after seeing how much I love blogging and everything about it, has dove head first into helping me any way he can (aka taking a million photos, helping pick between 10 graphics that are only slightly different, etc!) and has hands down been my biggest supporter and cheerleader every step of the way!

    Bravo to your hubby! (:

  2. Omg, this is adorable and hilarious. “He thought that eyeliner and mascara were the same thing, so we had a little talk about that” – amazing. I love how supportive he is.

  3. Wow, what a great post idea. It definitely sounds like he really gets it — from the makeup routine, the package deliveries, the dressing for yourself and the blogging community. He’s a keeper.

  4. Love this post!! My hubs always shares my posts and brags about my blog. He helped me come up with my tagline and always lends his creativity. I wish I could use him more for my photography, however we work opposite schedules so he’s not always around. My 4 year old steps up and “helps” with my photography…

  5. Such a sweet post! So thankful to have such a supportive husband as well! How could we ever take hundreds of outfit shots and Instagram pics without them? Not to mention the ongoing inspiration and love they constantly show!

  6. LOVE THIS TOO!!!! He knows you so well, as he should, and sees you exactly as I do. When you explore different styles of makeup and clothing, it does reflect your dynamic personality, and it isn’t for anyone but you, and I LOVE that. You’re not trying to be somebody for somebody, or somebody you’re not, you are being YOU! And I love that. I also know that a huge motivating factor behind all of this, for you, is empowering women, and how can I not get behind that 1000%? You’re beautiful, Taylor, the whole you, from the inside out, and I love that Adam helps us see that inner you. ????????????

  7. AWWWWWW!!!!! OMG!! Taylor you are so lucky. What a sweet post! LOL! Those “wingy things” – I busted out laughing. Very cute couple. This was a fun read – great post idea, babe!

  8. What a sweet post! I love it.. I’m an old married lady lol (Wednesday was our 15th wedding anniversary) and w/ 4 kids under our belt I have always loved that my husband has always been supportive. With my blogging he is there cheering me and asking what my stats are and if I have any work coming up. It was so fun to read your post! Happy Weekend to you guys!

  9. Very sweet!! You’ve been a good teacher of the fashion and makeup world! 🙂 My husband has had to learn that it may take 20 photos before there is 1 deemed Instagram worthy! Haha!

  10. I have a super supportive husband who does a lot of photography for my blog, it’s great when your partner in life does that. He doesn’t always get what I am doing, but supports it anyway. Your husband sounds super supportive and I love the line about Christmas every day!

  11. Love, Love, Love this! I think it is so great your husband was willing to write this and I love seeing his perspective of things! He seems very sweet and you guys look like you have a very loving and supportive relationship!

  12. Aw! I loved reading this post from your husband’s perspective! It’s always wonderful having that support, whether it’s listening to us talk about our blogs or being that behind the scenes photographer. Also, loved the pictures of you both! Your wedding picture is beautiful!

  13. Awww! What a sweet post! My husband rocks, too. We’ve been together since high school. He totally supported me trying stand-up comedy, and seven years later is still my number one fan. He’s supported me as I’ve branched out into blogging and even started doing it himself. I’m so grateful for his support.

  14. I’m not sure what would appear if I let my husband loose on my blog! lol This is lovely and the fact that your husband seems so supportive is great!

  15. Love this! My husband and I are still working on this; I’m not great at being confident in what I’m doing so I don’t always share. And he has no earthly idea what I’m doing so he doesn’t know what to ask. Lol hopefully we’ll be here soon though!

  16. This is so sweet. 🙂 I loved reading this. It’s quite clear that he loves you dearly and has the utmost respect for you. That’s priceless girl.

    Have a great weekend hun!

  17. Oh my goodness–what a sweet, sweet man <3 so adorable that this was his idea and that he 100% supports and encourages you in all things in life (even though it sometimes means brushing his teeth in the kitchen). Great post!

  18. I am so glad he is so supportive of you! Having a supportive partner in this blogging adventure can be so helpful. Dustbust has been my cheerleader since day one and has mastered taking photos in manual for my blog. There is no way HTC would be what it is without him!

  19. Honey,

I loved this text. And I understood his story well.

My husband, a high-ranking police officer in the State Police and head of the police department in our city, a bachelor of law, writer of books on Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, gets the time to accompany me on my fashion blog. It is he who receives my clothes and other things that I gain from the marks. He’s tracking the mail to see if the orders I’ve won have arrived. And you know that you married someone who loves to put on makeup, loves to dress, although, strangely, I DO NOT like posing for photos … However, I still pose because I know it’s a mission in this world full of things so ugly and Who need our femininity. And guess what? It is he who takes most of the photos and edits them, treats them in the editing programs.

And from living with me and my blog, he gives many tips on what clothes I should put for a post. He learned something about fashion, by the way LOL.

    God bless you!

  21. Wow, girl, you hit the jackpot with this one! Also, your hubs is a really great and funny writer; he needs to do this more often! It’s so nice to be married to someone who not only supports your craft, but “gets it.” Loved this post!
