Happy #fashionwednesday – AND Valentine’s Day! It’s the D A Y O’ L O V E so I hope you are celebrating accordingly. I am hanging out with my hubby obviously and hoping he is bringing me home some yummy chocolate covered strawberries (hint hint). We are probably going to get a yummy dinner out tonight, but we don’t really celebrate too crazy on v-day. Coming off Christmas, we have BOTH of our birthdays so we keep this holiday low-key. This is a little bit of satire to make you laugh today and break out of the serious romantic holiday. 😉 Let’s do it!!
How To Style A Valentine’s Day Date Night Outfit
When choosing your Valentine’s Day outfit, you want it to be perfect (obviously) but also totally practical – especially if you are one of those people who is going on a first date on v-day. Here are my tried-and-true tips for dating on Valentine’s Day (you can also make this work for any date, however).
Step one: Make sure your outfit covers 90% of your body. Leave only your wrists exposed.
This is important because it shows you are a lady, whilst also enticing any lover that comes your way. It leaves just enough to the imagination, without looking like a grandmother. The secret to all date night outfits. You may also show your ankles and neck if you are feeling particularly risqué.
Step two: Choose an outfit that has pockets or bring a purse to store secret items, like a pocket knife or mace, just in case.
Like if your man gets to handsy, or some crazy decides to try something weird. You know, the usual. I prefer to keep things hidden in secret compartments so they don’t know its coming. Dresses with pockets work well for this. Adorable AND practical. Nobody ever expects it. Like a sneak attack if they push things too far. *ninja whack*
Step three: Make sure your dress or skirt doesn’t limit your movement too much.
You want to be able to make a quick getaway if something goes south. Being able to run quickly is very important. Test this out in the dressing room by running in place or karate chopping the fitting room attendant. They will understand if you explain the purpose.
Step four: Wear red lipstick so he knows you aren’t afraid to drink the blood of your enemies.
It’s super important that he knows what kind of girl he’s dealing with and the easiest way to do that is by wearing red lipstick and winged liner so sharp you could stab him with it if need be. It’s just enough that it dances on the line of super sexy AND super dangerous. The perfect Valentine’s Day combo. I have plenty of tutorials that show you how to do your winged liner like a pro so check out my youtube channel here if you want to perfect that before your date tonight.
Step five: Wear your hair half up half down, or something that keeps it out of your face.
It looks super cute and put together, but keeps your hair out of the way so that if you do need to kick into some krav maga or other material arts at any point during the night, it isn’t falling into your face. You don’t want to be bogged down by something as silly as your hair when you are heading into a murderous rampage. You know?
…..ok that was MOSTLY for kicks and giggles and I hope you got a good laugh out of it 😉 But for real – STAY safe if you are going out on a first (or even second) date with someone you aren’t super familiar with. This goes for any date, not just on Valentine’s Day!

Let me know in the comments below what your plans are for tonight!! Are you going on a super romantic date night? A night in with pjs and pizza? Out with your girls to forget men even exist?
Regardless of what you are up to tonight – have an awesome and safe time. <3
