HAPPY TUESDAY! It is DAY TWO of my trip in Greenwich, Connecticut and I’ve got plans to hang out with my best friend of 8+ years (you can read about this goddess here) tonight in NYC because the city is literally just a hop skip and a jump away (#godbless public transportation)! I have been able to catch up with my cute grandparents and my aunt/uncle/cousins in between prepping for Shrek The Musical this weekend. We have dress rehearsals starting tomorrow night so I am just getting all my special effects makeup in order and ready to go and am getting both nervous and totally excited for the show. WISH ME LUCK.

Spring-to-Summer Makeup Tutorial + My Best Kept Spring Hair Secret: SUN-IN!

BUT ANYWAYS – back to the matter at hand here – today, I did a really pretty peachy & yellow eyeshadow (colors very akin to my two SunIn bottles) with a negative space liner. In addition to prepping for spring with this pastel eye makeup tutorial, I am sharing with you my BEST-KEPT hair secret: SUN-IN

SUN-IN!

So. Let’s chat about Sun-In just a little bit.

Summer is on the horizon – which means it’s time for me to brighten up the blonde in my hair and get ready for sunshine and happiness. I tend to stay a little ashier with a darker shadow root in my hair but around this time of year, I usually get some baby lights around my face. Instead of going into the salon this spring, however, I decided to test out SunIn again for the first time in like a decade (literally a decade I think).

HOW TO USE:

SunIn is pretty great because it is heat-activated which means you no longer have to dump it on your head and lay out in your grass on an old beach towel circa 2005. I literally spray it where I want and then blow dry my hair. It’s SO EASY.

One of my main concerns for this product was the fact that I was concerned about it turning my blonde brassy – and as we all know, I don’t vibe with brassy blonde. Luckily, SunIn doesn’t do anything to alter the shade of your blonde, it just lightens the color you already have. I haven’t noticed any brassiness since using this product and I haven’t had to go in and color correct with my toner. That’s a win in my book.

AND my little chemist’s heart is happy because this product is completely alcohol free. It’s not going to dry out your hair and cause damage to your hair. This is especially important to me because I already have bleached hair. I take REALLY good care to make sure my bleached strands don’t take any unnecessary damage.

PRO TIP: If you want perfectly sunkissed and naturally lightened strands, put your hair in two French braids on either side of your head and spray lightly. Then blow dry your hair while still in braids! The result is literal perfectly sunkissed strands akin to spending a week at the beach. 😉

Even better, SunIn is available at your local Walmart so you can be sure to pick it up on your next grocery run.

Let me know what you think of SunIn in the comments below! Do you love it as much as I do!?

    1. Totally girl! Every product used is in my youtube video linked in the post!! The main shadows are the Urban Decay Backtalk shadow palette and NYX cosmetics I Love you So Mochi palette in “Electric Pastels”. 🙂

  1. I remembered using sun in when I was in my teens and I loved it but it killed my hair at some point. I know times have changed with new and improved formulas. That’s amazing it doesn’t give a brassy look or damage your hair. Your hair looks amazing and I like the sunkissed look❤️

  2. Wow!! That’s so good to know! I remember Sun-In back in the day used to turn your hair a little orange sometimes – I’m so glad they’ve updated the formula! Your hair looks awesome. I’ll totally have to try!
