Happy Tuesday, everyone!!! It’s so hard to believe that this week I’m officially into my third trimester. Our last trimester before baby Mobley makes his entrance into the world. The fact that we only have 3 months before Adam & I become parents is mildly blowing our mind but we are working hard to prepare a little space for him in the world! We have started on his nursery with painting and redoing the closet space. We have all of his furniture ready to be put together, so over the next few weeks we can start filling his room. I just wanted to update you guys on my thoughts and feelings, symptoms and whatnot. Let’s do this!

Second Trimester PREGNANCY UPDATE!

Second Trimester PREGNANCY UPDATE!

How I’ve Been Feeling:

BETTER than the first trimester for the most part. The first trimester (catch my recap here) was full of anxiety about baby because it’s so common to experience miscarriage during that time, especially for a first pregnancy, AWFUL morning sickness that actually lasted all day long and the insane NOT KNOWING about whether or not baby was a boy or a girl. Here’s what’s been going on from week 14-27:

  • NO more morning sickness! BLESS. This was a welcome relief because man, that was rough. I stopped feeling sick almost right at week 14 and have been REALLY thankful it hasn’t lasted the whole pregnancy so far.
  • Less exhausted. I’m still more tired than pre-pregnancy, and I definitely go to bed a whole lot earlier (like 9:30 early), and walking up stairs is one of my least favorite activities – but all that aside, the pure exhaustion of the first trimester ended around week 16-17 and I’m SO glad about it.
  • Insane acid reflux and heartburn. Unfortunately, starting at almost exactly 20 weeks to the day, I began having AWFUL acid reflux and heartburn. It’s the worst and I hate it. I have to be really careful with what I am eating and drinking because a lot of stuff has been a major trigger for me (like chocolate, acidic fruits and tomato sauce). Tums have been my BFFs for the last almost 8 weeks now.
  • Hip & pelvis pain. Fun fact: your hips and pelvis spread while your pregnant and it’s really, horribly painful. So that’s fun. I have had days where it’s almost unbearable to even just walk a few steps in my house. 10/10 do not recommend.
  • Pregnancy brain is a real thing and it is in FULL FORCE. I have put milk in my pantry, walked in and out of rooms SEVERAL times trying to remember why I needed to go in there, forgotten where I was driving to halfway to my destination….
  • My belly has POPPED. Around week 17, I started to look like I had a real life baby belly and it’s only gotten bigger. I have LOVED have a baby belly and will totally miss it when baby is born!! I love dressing it up, and I love that people can tell I’m pregnant.
  • Baby moves all. the. time. and it is MAGIC. This is what I will miss most after baby is here. I LOVE feeling him move. It started around 16 weeks with little flutter but by our anatomy scan at 20 weeks, they were full on kicks. Now he’s even bigger and SO MUCH STRONGER! It’s the most magical thing on the planet. I love that I can feel him stretch and move and roll around. It’s like I have my own little sidekick with me all the time. Sometimes I just sit and watch my belly in absolute amazement. There is a living human IN. MY. UTERUS. It’s wild. Adam can feel him and see him move, too, and that’s SO special.
  • I still crave weird things. For a while it was fruity pebbles, now it’s lucky charms and powdered donuts. I still want burgers all the time – and gyros!!!! I still really don’t want anything to do with asian food but sweets are ok now as long as they are after something salty (like I always need dessert now to finish my meal).
  • My acne is STILL going strong, and if possible, is even worse! This boy better be the world’s most beautiful child because he is definitely stealing all of my beauty. My acne started basically around the time I took my pregnancy test, and has just continued to multiply. It’s horrible and awful and I hate it so so much.
  • I do not have prettier hair – but my nails are AMAZING. So, everyone says your hair grows like crazy while pregnant and it’s all shiny and thick. Well, that isn’t the case for me. It looks the exact same. BUT. My nails are literally as strong as a semi-truck. They do not bend or crack at all. This is a big deal because I have notoriously thin and brittle nails so I definitely noticed a difference right away starting around 24-25 weeks. I’m loving how fast they grow, too.
  • We picked his name!!! We won’t officially announce it on the blog until he’s born, but we haven’t been keeping it a secret from friends and family. It’s SO cute and we think it fits him perfectly.

Honestly, while there are definitely some growing pains (literally) that come with the second trimester – starting to feel the baby move, getting to see him on the anatomy scan and look at his little profile, and watching my belly grow have FAR outweighed any of the negatives that come with the pregnancy. I had no idea you could love a little human THIS MUCH without ever even having met them. Baby bean – I cannot wait to be your mama!!!

Are my symptoms similar to yours in the second trimester?! Did you have something different?! Let me know in the comments below!
