HAPPY #FASHIONWEDNESDAY! I love today’s post because it’s bringing back an old pre-pregnancy staple and turning it into one of the CUTEST maternity outfits I own (#truth). I have ALWAYS been obsessed with overalls (see my other posts about them here and here) and wear my favorite pair to pieces every spring and summer. They are comfortable so SO trendy. I always knew as soon as I had a baby bump to flaunt, I’d want to put it in a cute pair. The only downside to wearing them while #preggo is when you have to go to the bathroom. And if your second trimester is anything like mine, you will realize that you STILL have to pee every 20-30 minutes, and now your baby kicks your bladder directly making it even more urgent than before. AND due to the one-piece nature of rompers and overalls, you basically have to strip down to go. Not SUPER ideal – but if you are all about fashion over ultimate ease, then don’t even worry about it. Let’s dive into this.

Start by choose the PERFECT and most flattering pair of denim overalls for you. I tried to trick of looking for a pair that was one or two sizes up from what I normally wear, but because my hips/butt/thighs have not expanded nearly as much as my belly, they just looked baggy and frumpy instead of fitted and cute. SO. I went to the maternity section (these are motherhood maternity), and found these adorable things (they’re on sale right now for $39 – they were $60!!). I love the medium wash for spring, and the warm tone of the denim. Plus I’m all for the easy distressing.

You can pair your overalls with a bunch of different types of tops: off the shoulder tops, fitted graphic tees, a long-sleeved striped top or a light sweater if it’s still chilly. These are all super casual and comfortable. I chose this brown + cream striped top because it complimented the warmth of the denim and was still long-sleeved since it is still a bit chilly out right now. If you want to dress the look up, go with a satin blouse or button up. It like to unhook one side when I’m feeling fancy because you can see more of the blouse underneath. It’s the chic-est way to dress down something fancy.

For shoes, you can go a few ways. I chose to pair my overalls with my favorite flats! They’re cream to match my top, and SO comfortable. They cinch in the back, so they are easy to put on and take off. They didn’t mess with the hemline of the denim and they aren’t too dressy for the outfit. Some other alternatives I love are Converse or Adidas sneakers for something SUPER casual and almost bordering on athleisure, or embellished flats or sandals. If you opted to go for a dressier look, a pair of low heels or heeled booties make for the PERFECT look. When I wore my overalls at the Project Chimps weekend, I paired them with my very favorite taupe rain boots from Target. They were SO CUTE and made the entire look.

If it’s still a bit cold by you and you want to layer up – my favorite option is a long duster cardigan!! They are super chic and warm, and don’t take away from the outfit at all. Another option is a really cute utility jacket! It keeps the outfit casual, while still covering your arms to keep your warm. Stay away from super bulky sweaters, large coats and anything that hits below your hip (unless it goes all the way down like a duster) to avoid looking bulkier than you are, and to keep all the attention on your growing belly!

PLUS – maternity overalls are literally just cute. I get more positive comments on my bump and my pregnancy while wearing my overalls than any other outfit. I think because you can clearly see that they are maternity, people feel more comfortable mentioning it and it can be super sweet. I love that I’m visibly showing to the point where someone can pick it out. I love seeing my cute little bump all dressed up! Just another fun reminder that our little boy will be here before we know it, and everyone will get to hang out with him (not just me).

The only downside? I have found more people want to touch my bump when in overalls, as well, which is LESS exciting – so I do find myself holding onto it to keep it out of strangers hands.
