HAPPY BEAUTY MONDAY!! I am so excited about this review – a lot of you were excited about this when I unboxed the collection on my stories, so I have spent the last 3 weeks exclusively using this for my skincare in order to get a good idea of how it works on my skin, my overall thoughts, and time to see if I saw any changes. Let’s dive into this.
Hydrating Milky Collection – Pixi Beauty
OVERALL:
I would score this collection like a 6.8/10 for me. I liked it, it totally worked, but I have other things I like better. Nothing in this collection is going to replace the things I already use and love. THAT BEING SAID – after using it for 3 weeks, I came to the conclusion that I am probably not the skin type target market for this. I have combination/oily skin. This collection is definitely HYDRATING and aimed specifically at those with combination/dry skin. My husband’s skin falls more into that category and actually loved the collection. He is replacing a lot of his skincare empties with this collection because it worked really well for him. We all know skincare is SO personal – so if you are on the oily side, I’m gonna go ahead and recommend you skip it (and come back next Monday for my favorite oily skin recommendations). If you do have dry skin, this is probably going to be a great affordable collection for you.
HYDRATING MILKY MAKEUP REMOVER
6/10
This is a totally fine makeup remover if you don’t wear a lot of makeup. I found that on my heavier makeup days, this just isn’t going to cut it. I still needed to go in with my pre-cleanse. It is super gentle, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy and it works really nicely with my reusable cotton pads. I will keep it around for days when I’m just wearing a little bit of mascara and foundation.
HYDRATING MILKY PEEL
7/10
This is a very nice, gentle exfoliator. I typically go for chemical exfoliants like Paula’s 2% BHA exfoliant, but this is nice. It’s great a good scrub. I like using it in the shower once a week. It doesn’t feel stripping at all, but it still isn’t something I’d use SUPER often because my skin is very sensitive and physical exfoliants tend to irritate my skin over time. The ingredients they claim make this work are really high on the ingredient list and tend to be good for your skin so that is great!
HYDRATING MILKY CLEANSER
7.5/10
This cleanser is SUPER nice – and I love that you only need the TINIEST amount. It turns into a really nice lather and suds on your skin. It does make your skin feel “squeaky clean” if you like that feeling – it can be a bit stripping for me, but you can follow it up with a really nice lotion and be totally fine. I love the scent on this – it’s clean, fresh and has a slight coconut fragrance in it. My husband actually LOVES this cleanser and gave it a 10/10. He has drier skin than I do – so I think it worked better with his skin type!!
MILKY TONIC
7/10
This tonic is meant to soothe skin and combat irritation, dryness and redness. For me – I don’t SUPER struggle with those things, so I didn’t see a huge different when using this. I actually hated the scent so I didn’t use it as consistently as the other products in this line. It has a very “rose-y” scent, which is my least favorite fragrance for makeup and skincare. That being said, it’s VERY gentle and it feels great on the skin. If you do have those struggles, this is a less irritating toner than a lot out there and it will probably work very well for you. The hyaluronic acid is pretty high on the ingredient list – which is wonderful. I look for this ingredient in most of my skincare. The description says jojoba milk – but the ingredient list labels jojoba seed oil. I’m not sure how they are differentiating that but that does seem a bit off to me. The milk and the oil do 2 different things.
HYDRATING MILKY SERUM
7/10
This serum also is VERY heavily scented. I actually only ended up using it a handful of times because the scent gave me a headache. This collection boasts clean ingredients, jojoba oil, and coconut extract and I wish the scent that they had chosen was similar across the board and more neutral and coconutty vs. rose scented. It just doesn’t scream “milky collection” to me. The serum itself is pretty heavy for my oily skin – but it would be AMAZING for someone with really dry skin. It did sink nicely into my skin, I just noticed my oils were too much for it. The rose flower oil is very high on the ingredient list – so that is most likely where the scent is coming from. I DID see that squalane was high on the ingredient list as well – and that is one of my favorite skincare ingredients. So I loved that – it’s a super power anti-aging ingredient and it has great anti-inflammatory benefits that help with acne scarring and dry patches. You usually only see that ingredient in more expensive skincare.
HYDRATING MILKY LOTION
8/10
I actually LOVED this lotion!! It is very lightweight while still being super hydrating. I loved the consistency and the feeling on my skin. It sinks in really quickly and you barely need any to cover your whole face, which I love. The bottle is a really substantial size, so you get a ton for the price. The only downside is again the scent. This wasn’t a rose scent, however, and I honestly can’t really pinpoint what bothers me about this scent so much – but it sits weird in my nose. I know that is unhelpful. LOL. BUT. The lotion itself is AMAZING so if scent doesn’t bother you: it’s a great one! I don’t LOVE how high the coconut oil is on the ingredient list because it can be comedogenic, but I didn’t notice any pore clogging in the 3 weeks I used this lotion.
HYDRATING MILKY MIST
9/10
I have used this milky mist for a while – it’s been one of my favorites from their mist collection! I LOVE Pixi’s mists – they are fantastic. Their glow mist is a holy grail of mine and I use it almost every day. This one is great for prepping your skin – or for hydration on no makeup days. It’ll definitely stay in my collection for the foreseeable future. It doesn’t have a strong scent and feels SO nice on bare skin. My ONLY beef with this is that it claims hyaluronic acid in the description – but it’s the second to last ingredient on the list which means there is actually less than 1% of that ingredient in this product. I would not expect this to actually have any of the benefits of hyaluronic acid.
All things being said – this is a nice collection. It’s going to be really great for combo/normal/dry skin. It is very hydrating – and while it DOES have a LOT of fragrance, the ingredients for the most part are actually really nice. It’s a brand I do really enjoy, and have many products I use and love.
Have you tried anything from this collection? What are your thoughts?
