HAPPY WEDNESDAY, FAM! Last night I attended my second ever Taylor Swift concert and to say it was incredible would be an understatement. I talk here a little bit about how much she means to me as an artist, and how her music has impacted my life (so I won’t go into huge details). I was able to attend her Philly concert earlier this year on a whim and I bought the St. Louis tickets back in December. It’s been a long 9 months waiting for this concert to get here so I wanted to go all out for the show! If you are planning on attending T.Swift’s reputation tour before the tour closes at the end of this year – here was my experience and some helpful outfit ideas to get you prepped and ready!

My Taylor Swift Concert Experience + Outfit

WHAT I WORE:

I knew I wanted to wear my denim skirt from the beginning and this sequin blazer comes with me every time I want to wear something edgy. I apparently need more edgy clothes. When I was planning this outfit out, the only thing I knew for sure was my blazer because it is black sequins, something Taylor sports a LOT in her concert outfits this time around. I did have a concert tee from when I was in Philly, but it’s dark grey and it just didn’t go with my overall vibe.

Last minute, I decided to make my own t-shirt based on a Pinterest DIY I saw another girl do! I went to hobby lobby and picked up a plain white tee and a bunch of iron-on letters. On the front I ironed:

END GAME.

FIRST STRING.

A-TEAM.

From “End Game”. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and just super quotable. On the back of the shirt I wrote:

SWIFT

89

Like a sports jersey. It was super easy to do and it only took about a half hour to put together start to finish. I did black letters so they would show up better. Now that I had my top, I knew my sparkle jacket would be tied around my waist (it’s just too hot to wear it all the way). I went back and forth between denim jeans and my denim mini skirt and ultimately ended up in my denim mini.

For shoes, I definitely wanted to wear something comfortable because I would be standing in them for hours (and also my feet haven’t fully recovered from NYFW, tbh). I decided on my black Steve Madden pom pom shoes because they’re really cute and really comfortable. 10/10.

MY EXPERIENCE:

If you haven’t experienced the Reputation Tour yet, let me share some insiders scoop with you: it’s an INCREDIBLE performance. It isn’t just the fact that Taylor is an awesome singer and dancer – but it’s the entire show itself. She has fireworks, a light show, amazing back up dancers, interactive screens, three stages and everyone gets a light up bracelet that shines to the beat of the music. Not only that, but she has giant inflatable snakes that fill that stages and remind everyone that Taylor figured out a way to take people trying to soil her reputation into a multi-million dollar album and stadium tour.

She sang all of her songs from the Reputation album, but she also sprinkles in some of her dancier jams like Shake It Off and We Are Never Getting Back Together from previous albums. My favorite part of the show was when she stripped down some songs and sang them acoustically. It was amazing. Not only that – but she played some songs from her first and second albums and talked about how some of her fans have been there since the very beginning (aka me) and it’s always surreal for her to hear them say that they’ve been fan since they were 11, 12 or 13 years old. She sang Long Live from her Fearless album which is a song that just has so much meaning for me personally and I am not gonna lie – I totally cried. She thanked those of us who have listened to her for the last decade for loving her all the way through – and not just considering her music as a phase. And my mom and I felt that so strongly. Another reason I love her concerts because she always just takes time to talk to her audience in between numbers and it’s almost like we are all just hanging out together, Taylor and her 66,000 closest friends. 😉

While I am sad I didn’t get picked to go to the Rep Room to meet her after the concert – I felt lucky just to be in the same stadium as she was. THE ONLY complaint I have is that the people who were checking our tickets took our awesome signs away (one of the ways they pick people for the Rep Room is based on signs and outfits) because they were too big – but when we got in the stadium – other people had signs the same size or bigger than ours so they weren’t very consistent with who got to keep their signs and who didn’t which was a bummer. Luckily, we got pictures of the signs before they were gone for good.

All in all, the fact that I’ve been able to see Taylor twice this year has been the biggest blessing after waiting NINE years to see her in concert. I so hope you get a chance to see her one day, too.

I hope this helps you prep for YOUR next Taylor Swift concert. I know she isn’t everyone’s cup of tea – but I just think she is amazing. It doesn’t hurt that I am always being told I look like her (check out my celebrity recreations of her iconic look here and here).

  1. It sounds like such a fun concert! You looked so fantastic, too! I love that your mom went with you and rocked the adorable signs. It’s a bummer those got taken away but at least they made fun props for pictures before. I love the tee you made, too! So creative!!!

  2. Hi! I am so curious about whether there were the same level of fireworks/pyrotechnics at the indoor stadium in St. Louis as there were at the outdoor stadium. Since you saw both shows, I thought maybe you could answer this for me? I went to the show in Tampa and LOVED it, and I’m taking my boyfriend tomorrow night in New Orleans and I can’t stop wondering about whether he will get the same amazing fireworks/fire show, which I really think added to the whole effect of the concert (especially for a 30+ year old guy who is not really a Taylor fan.. lol! I want the show to knock his socks off!)

    1. Bree – I don’t think they had the full fireworks but they definitely still had smaller fireworks and the fireballs and sparks shooting up to the ceiling!!! I was just as impressed with the STL vs PHL shows – so I think he will be too!
