Hey hey, everyone!! I am super excited to be partnering with Ingenuity today to be sharing a little bit about our experience at mealtimes with Jack. It’s been a roller coaster to say the least – but we are learning together and I’m super grateful for the help of amazing brands like Ingenuity to make our ride a little easier. I’m going to be sharing our story with introducing solids to Jack and how the Ingenuity™ SmartServe™ 4-in-1 High Chair makes it easier for us to feed Jack! Let’s dive into this.

Making Mealtimes with Baby A Success

Our Story:

Jack has been exclusively breastfed since we brought him home from the hospital. He did take bottles for dad in the beginning so that we could switch feedings on and off in the middle of the night, but at around 3 months old – he was pretty much over the bottle and really preferred just to breastfeed, which was totally fine to me!

We started introducing solids right at the 6 month mark with fruit purees. At first, it was fine – we did bananas, apples and avocados pureed and mixed with breastmilk. After introducing a few more foods though, it became clear Jack just wasn’t taking them well and he started projectile vomiting all of his solids. It was horrible and basically the worst.

SO. I decided to take a step back with feeding him and go right back to the basics: oatmeal cereal mixed with breastmilk. It’s about as simple as you can get food-wise for babies first solids and thank goodness he took to this ok. I’m going to keep him on this for another week or two and then start SLOWLY adding different solids into his diet. I am going to go as slow as possible with introducing new things in the hopes that he doesn’t have more episodes throwing the new food up!

Ingenuity™ SmartServe™ 4-in-1 High Chair:

This high chair is fabulous for a few reasons.

  1. It comes with an easily removable washable tray top. It just pops off, rinses well and dries easily. It’s SO nice not to have to take the high chair apart to clean it up.
  2. It has a swing out feature that makes taking baby in and out a breeze.
  3. There is a hidden tray for utensils which is PERFECT for travel.
  4. It’s a high chair, booster, toddler chair, or can seat 2-kids-at-once!

It can grow with Jack and that’s what I REALLY love about it. The straps are adjustable and move up to accommodate him the bigger he gets. It is sturdy enough to support him as he grows. The tray can be adjusted out so that it won’t be too tight on him while he’s eating.

We always do a bib, too, because Jack is a messy eater and I HIGHLY recommend the silicone ones. Ours go in the dishwasher and easily wipe off. No extra laundry required. We simply tuck it right behind the high chair tray and it catches any messes that may fall off the tray into Jack’s lap!

This high chair also folds up for easy storage but ALSO easy travel. We can take it to my parent’s house any time we plan on feeding him over there, so that we don’t have to hold him in our lap. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t take up a ton of room.

We are still figuring out the whole solids thing with Jack but it’s easier when we have a great place to put him. He associates the chair with happy things (like his favorite yellow spoon) so he totally lights up when he knows he’s going in it. We have peace of mind knowing it’s safe and secure, and has every feature we’d ever need.
