Happy #BEAUTYMONDAY! Today, I am going to be reviewing the new Lit & Wet palettes from the Bretman x Colourpop collection. I first saw the Wet palette and feel in LOVE with the “ice queen” feeling it had to it – and then when I saw that it was a part of two sister palettes, I had to buy both (obviously). I wanted to showcase two different looks for you guys – one blue, one red – so you get two tutorials in one! PLUS – I made sure to include swatches of both, my ingredient breakdown and naturally, my final thoughts on the eyeshadow palettes. Let’s dive into this.

REVIEW:
Overall – these palettes are really good quality. The mattes blended really easily together, and didn’t turn muddy or patchy. They had really typical Colourpop quality (which I enjoy) – but I think the shimmers in the wet palette performed better than usually. The shades I’m Chillen & Thickems were incredible to use. I’m Chillen is the deep teal shade on the top row – and it has these really gorgeous micro-glitter reflects that you almost cannot see in the pan – but show up SO beautifully on the eye. Thickems is a bright and shiny true silver. Weirdly enough, I don’t actually have very many true, metallic silvers like this in my collection so I love that. The Lit palette was. in my opinion, very true to 99% of the other Colourpop eyeshadow palettes I have. The colors aren’t particularly revolutionary or unique, they are a very typical maroon/gold warm toned shades. That being said, I don’t mean that in a bad way at all! I really liked the palette, and if you are looking for a really pretty and basic maroon palette – this is a great one to choose.

I DO wish, however, that the pan sizes were a little bit bigger. I would have paid a little bit more to have pan sizes that weren’t so small. The other thing I didn’t love was the fact that there wasn’t a mirror on the inside of the palettes. It’s really frustrating to want to travel with certain palettes and have to remember to pack an additional mirror or be forced to use a small compact mirror instead. Aside from that (and the fact that there is MAJOR glitter fallout from the front of each palette – seriously don’t wear anything you don’t want to be covered in the glitter by the time you are done), there weren’t any other major complaints!
INGREDIENTS:
Because there are so many ingredients (and I’ve gone over the most common ingredients in a lot of my other ingredient reviews – check out my ingredient breakdown here) – I am going to choose the main ingredients that may cause irritation / have cause for some concern. Here we go.

Lit Palette:
Phenoxyethanol is found in each of these shadows. It is a preservative used in cosmetics and personal care products, and very commonly found in cosmetics. The main things to be wary about with this ingredient is the fact that it IS classified as a skin irritant and some people may be more sensitive to products with this ingredient included. Hexylene Glycol is another ingredient found in each of these shadows, and is also classified as an irritant. It’s used as an emulsifier and a perfume agent, so if you are sensitive to scents or other perfume, this may not be a great product for you. Red 40 Lake is found in Or Whatevah, Macchiato, Periodt, and Bading and has been classified as the FDA as a potential irritant if inhaled. Red 7 Lake is also used in a few shades (Mercy and Like) and has the same warning. Titanium Dioxide is used in every shade except Mercy and according to the California EPA (California Environmental Protection Agency), has been found to be a possible human carcinogen. However, that has ONLY been found in aerosol products so you should be safe with the palette (but you can use your own judgement. The two darker red shades (Like & Mercy) are considered pigments, not eyeshadows and are therefore not intended for use around the immediate eye area according to the FDA. I personally don’t really listen to that because I don’t have overly sensitive skin on my eyes, but if you have noticed red or purple shades bothering your eyes, you may want to stay away.

Wet Palette:
This palette contains Ultramarines, which are approved for eye use by the FDA but NOT approved for lipstick, so if you are someone who likes to use eyeshadows as lip toppers, I wouldn’t with the shades I’m Chillen and Finished?. The same ingredients as above (Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol, andTitanium Dioxide) are also used in this palette, so proceed with caution in terms of these particular additives! Carmine is used in I’m Chillen and Skinny Legend, and while it is considered very safe, it is a pigment made from bugs. If you are vegan, you will not want to use this palette.
PIN THIS FOR LATER:

I hope you found this helpful in terms of deciding whether or not to purchase these particular palettes. They are, in my opinion, fairly affordable (19.20) for both palettes isn’t a bad price for good quality products.
Have you tried these products out yet? Let me know your thoughts and opinions below!
