Happy #beautymonday! Today, I’m doing a love-inspired makeup look using the LimeCrime Venus III palette. I’m going to be breaking down the Venus III palette – the ingredients, swatches, tutorial and my overall opinion of the quality. I love the color story, and this brand is fairly new to me so it’s always fun testing out new brands and products. It is $38 a piece – so I want you to be fully informed before you drop over $30 on it. Check out my full thoughts below:

Venus III:
I love, love, love, love this palette. It’s the PERFECT blush palette. I love that it includes some pops of purple – but overall I think “Valentine’s Day” when I see it. Dreamy is a beautiful transition shade and Heavenly is a STUNNING metallic pink. I like that they included Ecstasy for a deepening shade. There are a ton of combinations you can create with this palette.
Quality for this palette sits at about an 8.5/10. I think it is slightly better than Venus II. Some pros: The shadows, again, super pigmented. I love that they included more mattes than shimmers, so you can easily blend out the colors and create different color combos. Beam is almost a duo-chrome because it looks really lavender in the pan, but applies more light pink with purple reflect. SO pretty. Some cons: Beloved and Rapture were kind of a disappointment – I wanted them to be more easily applied with a brush, but they really apply best with your finger. Other than that – it is one of my fave palettes at the moment!
INGREDIENTS:
First things first: I love that this brand is vegan and cruelty-free. It makes me feel good to support a brand that cares about animals. In terms of ingredients, let’s break it down:
Venus III:
The first ingredient for each of these shadows is Mica. I talk about that particular ingredient here. Long story short: it is safe for your eyes – but depending on how you feel about how mica is produced, you may not choose to use this product. Alumina is the next ingredient on the list – and has some mild concerns. It is expected to be toxic or harmful according to Environment Canada Domestic Substance List, as well as one or more animal studies show classified as toxic effects at moderate doses. The amount of product in an eyeshadow palette isn’t classified as a “moderate” dose, but it is something to keep in mind. Ethylhexyl Palmitate is the next ingredient, and while it is widely considered to be pretty much safe – in some cases it can cause mild irritation on the eyes. Zinc Stearate falls underneath the same concerns as Alumina – expected to be toxic or harmful and having animal studies showing the toxic effects at moderate doses. Those are the only ingredients listed that have issues that raise red flags in my opinions.
I hope this helps you decide whether or not this is a brand you want to try out! I love that this isn’t a very neutral palette, but rather fun pops of pink and purple which are PERFECT for spring.
