Happy Friday!! Right now my husband and I are on a beach in the Dominican Republic (thank goodness for scheduling tools and an amazing intern, amiright?). About 2 weeks ago almost I was SO fortunate to be able to partner with Steak ‘n’ Shake to promote their brand new Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake at the Kimmswick Strawberry Festival. It is absolutely delicious, just btw. Here is my recap of the festival + why you should absolutely pick up this milkshake next time you’re at Steak ‘n’ Shake.

Kimmswick Strawberry Festival Recap With Steak ‘n’ Shake

About the festival:

This festival takes place is Kimmswick, MO, a tiny little town about 45 min from me. The whole town closes down during the festival and a bunch of sweet small shops set up camp and sell their little hearts out. There is strawberry EVERYTHING and really yummy fair food (also really fattening but I didn’t count calories on that day). Fresh jams, jellies, butters, cakes, cookies, kettle corn, and ~ you guessed it ~ Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshakes.

About Steak ‘n’ Shake:

Ok so first off. You should know. I am Steak ‘n’ Shake’s biggest fan. Long before they reached out to me, my husband wouldn’t even need to ask where I wanted to go for dinner. If you’ve never had their cheese fries….they’ll change your life. Founded in 1934, they serve amazing burgers and shakes. Their new Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake is made with real strawberries and cheesecake pieces blended into their hand-dipped milkshake. It’s only available until August 22nd, so go order 12 right now.

The festival was an absolute blast and I bought handmade soaps, fresh jams, more kettle corn than I can possibly eat, and several strawberry milkshakes. I also had a corn dog the size of my body. There is a trick, however, to making sure you get the most out of your festival experience:

Tip #1: Wear comfortable shoes.

I don’t know if I need to say this, but I did NOT wear comfortable shoes, and the several blisters on my toes hate me for it. I valued looking adorable over feeling comfortable and now I’m regretting it. Wear tennis shoes or close toed slip ons because festivals typically have dust and dirt and it will get into your shoes and make your feet feel gross. Learn from my mistakes.

Tip #2:  Bring cash.

While most places will take card nowadays, I ran across a little strawberry shop that I wanted to buy like 27 pints of fresh strawberries from but they only took cash or check. Luckily, I had a check, but it would have been a lot better if I had just had cash. Also, parking will take cash. So just plan ahead and bring cash.

Tip #3: Bring an appetite.

Just realize that you are going to break your diet now and eat the festival food. Eat the fried oreos and the three foot long corn dogs and milkshakes and cheesecake. It isn’t an everyday thing, and life’s too short for us to miss out on fried oreos.

I hope you are able to go to a festival near you soon this summer, because they truly are SO much fun. And while you’re at it, pick up one of Steak ‘n’ Shake’s new Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshakes before August 22nd!!

Enjoy your weekend. <3

  1. Strawberry is seriously my favorite flavor anything. These sound positively amazing, not to mention a WHOLE festival just for strawberry things! ❤️ Also, love the idea of the entire town shutting down for the event, that sounds like such a blast!

  2. I love little fairs like this, and anything to do with strawberries! They’re one of the few things I’m NOT allergic to, so I try to take full advantage whenever I can. I’ll have to drag my boyfriend out on the 45 minute drive to our nearest Steak n’ Shake for this milkshake!

  3. Gotta love Steak n’ Shake! This new milkshake looks amazing, and I need to try it asap. As for festivals, I’m a sucker for a music one. Nothing feels like summer more than a festival.
