Happy FRI-YAY! Do you know what tomorrow is? It’s September 22nd….so….IT’S THE OFFICIAL FIRST DAY OF FALLLLLLLLL. That means regardless of the fact that it’s 80 degrees outside – I’m wearing turtlenecks, booties and cardigans. I will die in the heat because I don’t care and it is fall. It. Is. Fall. APPLE-CIDER-IN-MY-PJS-CRUNCHY-LEAVES-ON-THE-GROUND-FALL. That’s all. SO. In honor of the fact that it is almost officially autumn (the greatest time of year) I have rounded up the seven best adult activities you can do over the next 2.5 months in St. Louis. Sometimes a staycation is better than a vacation anyways. Let’s jump into this then!

7 Fun Fall Activities To Do In St. Louis

ONE: Q In The Lou

This is so much fun if you like BBQ! It’s going on September 21st-23rd and it’s totally free to enter. They boast that they are smoking over 18,000lbs of meat and there are VIP passes available to purchase if you want to hang out in a special lounge and skip all the lines to food. They also have live music playing all weekend and the BBQ masters are holding special classes where you can watch and learn how to make the best BBQ in the business.

TWO: Harvest Festival

Also going on September 21st-23rd, the Harvest Festival is a classy event that will have your tastebuds watering. The festival starts Friday evening with the “Swingin’ in the Vines” concert and picnic in the vineyard. You can then ride a fun pumpkin wagon to the Vineyard, grab a picnic basket, and enjoy Michael Lacey and his New Orleans Swing band as the sun sets. A new event for this year is the “Harvest Fest 5K” run/walk – A run starting at 9 a.m. at the Augusta Katy Trail Head and ending at Mt. Pleasant Estates Winery. The male and female winners will each receive a hand-blown wine glass made by Augusta’s own nationally recognized glass artist, Sam Stang. Sunday is more food and music, and a steak dinner is prepared. There are lots more activities than mentioned here as well – so be sure to head to the website linked above to get the full itinerary!

THREE: Fright Fest

My personal favorite! (I will also be doing a strictly Halloween event round up here soon – so stay tuned). This is the big Six Flags event of the season – there are  thrills and activities for the whole family throughout the day and you can come back for a truly frightening evening of fun after the sun goes down. Fright Fest offers a wide variety of places to get your scare on including several haunted houses and scare zones located throughout the park. It’s a blast and I can’t wait to go this year.

FOUR: Missouri Market

This market showcases Missouri’s finest in the food and drink industry – ranging from chefs, food producers and artisans. There will be live music, food and drink and even a kids corner so you can let your kiddos enjoy the event as well. Held at the botanical gardens, the autumn leaves and colors will be in full bloom and absolutely stunning.]

FIVE: Hermann Oktoberfest

This fest is held every weekend in October so get ready! They have full itineraries for each weekend that include live music, events, special food and drink, dancing and more in a month long celebration of German heritage. FUN FACT: German immigrants settled in Hermann, MO in the 1830s and 40s with the hope of creating a German colony on the American frontier. Their efforts were successful and from these immigrants came a unique heritage that has made a lasting impression on Hermann. PLUS: They hold an annual arts and crafts festival during this time as well. There is so much to do – you won’t be sorry you visited.

SIX: Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival

Last year, my mom and I went to their strawberry festival during the summer but totally missed out on the apple butter festival but you better believe I’m not this time around. Starting at 10am and going until 5pm, the Historical Society sets up and makes/sells their homemade apple butter all day long. 100’s of other vendors also set up their booths to sell their apple themed wares. This festival draws close to 100,000 people each year and it a fun way to interact with the community.

SEVEN: Cinema St. Louis International Film Festival

Coming in November is the St. Louis international film festival! I’ve never been but I’ve hear so many good things about it. Their website boasts: “The 27th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) will again provide St. Louis filmgoers with the finest in world cinema — international films, documentaries, American indies, and shorts that can only be seen on the big screen at the festival.” As someone who LOVES movies and films of all kinds – I definitely have this on my list of activities for this year.
