Happy FRI-YAY, everyone!!! I’m pretty stoked to FINALLY be hitting publish on this blog post. I’ve been working on it for weeks now, but I wanted to make sure I was actually seeing results and using the product correctly before sharing it with all of you. ANYWAYS. Today, we are going to be talking about micro needling. What it is, where you can purchase the product, how to use it, what it’s good for, and what kind of results you can expect. Let’s dive right into this.

I Tried At-Home Microneedling…And I’m HOOKED.

What is Microneedling?

This is an affordable version of a spa treatment that usually runs to the tune of $250 a session. I thought – if I could get similar results at home, why not try it? At-home microneedling involves using a device called a Derma Roller. It has 540+ titanium micro needles that are .25mm in length. It’s a non-invasive tool to heap with the appearance of smooth and healthy skin, fine lines, pigmentation and texture. It allows deeper penetration of skin serums for maximum absorption.

How do you use the derma roller?

The derma roller is a handheld device that has .25mm needles on it that cause micro tears in your skin, promoting collagen production and stimulates your epidermis. You use it by simply rolling it from your forehead down, avoiding the sensitive eye area. It’s very simple to us, just make sure your are sterilizing it with an alcohol solution every time, since it is actually puncturing your skin. Remember to immediately follow the treatment up with a moisturizer and a serum.

What is it good for?

The derma roller simulates collagen production, skin elasticity, hyperpigmentation and help reduce the appearance of fine lines. I was particularly interested in the reduction of hyperpigmentation. I have a lot of acne scarring on my face from pregnancy and postpartum and I am all in if there is anything that can help reduce the acne scarring.

What kind of results can you expect?

You can expect to see results after about 1-2 weeks. You should only use the roller twice a week to start, increasing as your skin gets more comfortable. I have seem lightening of my acne scarring and I feel like the lines around my forehead are less noticeable than they were before. I followed up my microneedling with their Sdara hydrating face mask with hyaluronic acid.

Where can you buy one?

You can buy them a lot of places, but mine is from Sdara. It’s more affordable than some of the other options out there at $25. Some derma rollers can cost upwards of $250. You can purchase the one I use HERE.

Overall thoughts:

I’m impressed with this product. I test out a lot of different skin care items and while a lot of them do what they say, many do not. I never go into something with SUPER high hopes because there are so many gimmicks out there. I don’t feel this is one of them!! This derma roller is a super easy thing to incorporate into your weekly routine and it actually gives results. The $25 commitment isn’t one that is going to break the bank, so I think it’s definitely worth a try.
