Happy #beautymonday, fam!! I’m so excited for this review today because I’ve had this palette for FOREVER and lost it and then found it again to use!! This brand is SO intriguing to me – and their foundation stick is actually in my every day makeup routine and I’m so in love with how it performs. I figured if their foundation was so amazing, their eyeshadow had to be pretty good, too, right?! I chose this palette originally because I think it’s a great natural palette with a pop of color which would be perfect for spring or summer. I’m going to be showing you a full tutorial + swatches, review and my ingredient breakdown below. Let’s dive into this.

This eyeshadow palette is great for those of you who are beginning to play with color because it isn’t overwhelming, and the majority of the shadows are neutral. You can do a completely neutral eye with this palette. There are 3 matte shades, and six shimmer – so the ratio is a bit off from what I like. I would have like to see 5 mattes, 4 shimmer or even 6 mattes and 3 shimmer. That is just personal preference – in the winter especially, I like to use matte shadows for the large chunk of the eye look and then accentuate and highlight with the shimmer shades. I LOVE that they include a really bright inner corner and brow bone highlight. A lot of palettes are missing this so I supplement with highlighter shades, but this is included right in the palette. It’s compact, and a great weight. It feels luxurious with the magnetic closure and soft-touch packaging. If you want to add a pop of color, you can play with the purple/pink shade. In terms of quality/product use – I give this about a 8.5/10. I think the matte can get a bit chalky/patchy if used without taking the time to fully blend and there isn’t a really good transition shade for lighter skin tones. The center shade would be perfect if it wasn’t shimmery. I still used it as a transition, but I think it would have looked better as a matte. The shimmers are impactful and really pack a shiny punch. I love how creamy they felt on my finger, and how nicely they applied with a brush as well. 

INGREDIENTS:

The shimmers in this palette contain Mica, where the mattes contain Talc. This is super typical – and both ingredients are approved by the FDA as eye safe. If you have an issue with how mica is mined, you may want to steer clear of this palette. Calcium Sodium Borosilicate is the next ingredient, and isn’t “unsafe” but can be abrasive on the eye. It is a bulking agent which means that it honestly doesn’t do much or add much to a product. Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate is the ingredient next on my list to be wary of, because according to the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Assessments – this has been found to be a strong irritant around the eyes and mouth. Dimethicone is in quite a few of these eyeshadow shades, and is a silicone-based ingredient. It is classified to be toxic in large amounts, and Cosmetic Ingredient Review Assessments recommend that it be restricted in cosmetic use. A lot of people steer clear of dimethicones in their makeup and skincare routines. Ethylhexylglycerin has been labeled as an irritant to the eyes, mouth and lungs by the European Union but not in the United States. The European Union has also stated that there is limited evidence of eye toxicity for products intended for use around the eyes (which this is). The rest of the ingredients listed were pretty harmless, and didn’t have any studies showing that they harm the human body in any way. A lot of these can be taken with a grain of salt, simply because you use SUCH a little amount on your eyes – but if you have super sensitive skin or organ systems, I would take note and be cautious when using this product.
