Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY!! I am loveloveloving that it’s still pool weather. I don’t know about you, but there is nothing better than being lazy in a donut shaped pool floaty. I shot this look with Erin a few weeks ago and have been DYING to get the film scans back. They did NOT disappoint. Not even a tiny bit. But I hear a lot about people feeling uncomfortable in their own skin while wearing a swimsuit, so I’ve put together 6 tips to help you feel confident in a swimsuit, no matter what your body type is. Let’s dive into it.
SHOP THIS POST HERE (the EXACT pineapple cup I’m holding, a few favorite swimsuits + coverups from the NSale, and these exact floats, plus a few other favorites):
How To Feel Confident (In A Swimsuit)
Feeling confident in a swimsuit seems to be an elusive feeling for a lot of people. So in an effort to help pick you up and show you how to ROCK whatever suit you wear the rest of this summer, because yes, EVERY body is a swimsuit body.
Tip #1: First, throw out “bikini body ready”.
Stop putting yourself in a tiny box. The trick isn’t starving yourself until you disappear, it’s working hard to take care of your body and stay healthy while finding swimsuits that flatter you at every stage your body goes through. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all bikini body.
Tip #2: Choose a swimsuit that makes YOU feel comfortable.
Ignore the haters. Choose a flattering and comfortable swimsuit for YOU. Don’t choose what your mother thinks you should wear. Don’t choose what society thinks you should wear. Find a swimsuit that makes you look in the mirror and say HOT DANG I LOOK AMAZING. That’s how you should feel. It doesn’t matter if a “how to dress” website tells you otherwise.
Tip #3: Take care of your skin.
Part of the reason you may be feeling less than confident is the fact that you have to go totally bare-faced. While you ABSOLUTELY don’t need makeup, it can be a confidence booster. However, most of the time you don’t really want to wear a full face of glam to the pool. Making sure you hydrate your skin before spending time is salt water or chlorine will make a huge difference in how confident you feel.
Tip #4: Don’t knock it till you try it (on).
Swimsuits don’t always look their best on the hanger. Try not to judge a swimsuit by it’s cover. They always look so funny before you put them on, no matter what. Know what works for your body and go for those styles. Sometimes magic happens when you put on a suit.
Tip #5: Stop judging others.
You only hurt yourself when you put others down. Instead, focus on lifting them up! Forget about who should be and who shouldn’t be rocking a bikini. Put into the universe what you coming back to you. When you start building other women up, you feel better about yourself, too. I promise it works.
Tip #6: Fake it till you make it.
This is important. Smile when you don’t feel like it. Wear the bomb swimsuit. Be nice to those around you even if you’re feeling salty. Retweet from tip #5, treat others the way you want to be treated. It’s ok to not be 100% there yet. Do your best.
PIN IT FOR LATER:
I hope you found this helpful — I know it can be hard to find swimsuits that make you feel sexy. You DESERVE to feel amazing at the beach or the pool. Finding your confidence isn’t always easy, but you can do it. Life is too short to be unhappy with yourself. Your body is AWESOME, no matter what it looks like right now. Remember — that thing keeps you alive every day.

At the end of the day, you are the one who has to be in your own skin. You might as well OWN IT!
Loving how pinup you look with this swimsuit. And love the colot too. And what you say is what it is. You have to use something that goes with your body type but that you are confident in.
Thanks Jessica!! I’m SO glad you agree!
I’m all for one piece especially after having the boys. I just don’t feel comfortable wearing a two piece. This color swimsuit is so pretty on you.
This swimsuit is so cute! After having a baby I have had the hardest time feeling confident in a swimsuit. What places do you recommend for one pieces?
RadSwim is AWESOME and so is Anthropologie! MY favorite places for swimwear!
You look adorable and I love all these tips! Trying swimsuits on is a MUST, as things always look different on the hanger and sometimes something completely different from your normal style ends up looking amazing.
I so agree with all of these tips, and you look absolutely gorgeous girl! That pink totally POPS!

Loved your tips. That’s been my mantra this summer too. My body is swim suit ready 24/7 – we can’t wait for a body to be a certain size to start living. Love the pictures in your post.

Such a cute photo shoot. I love it! I hate the whole ‘beach body’ attitude…just let me be how I am. I love your pool floaties and the pineapple cup…that’s adorable.
