Hello, pretty people! Happy #FASHIONWEDNESDAY! I hope you loved this past weeks #beautymonday and the Day of the Dead Halloween tutorial (find that tutorial here)! Celebrating Halloween is in full swing at the Mobley house and I could not be happier. Candy corn everywhere….apple cider by the gallon…sounds like my kind of heaven! My look of the day today consists of my FAVORITE faux fur vest and my favorite fall staple — the red plaid shirt. I mean can you even go wrong with any of those things? Nope. Didn’t think so.
WHY EVERY WOMAN NEEDS A FAUX FUR VEST
Sooo…at this point you are probably like “furry vests are for tiny humans and Marc Jacobs models…but not for me”. Well, my dear friend, that is where you would be wrong. I bought this vest last fall and my friends totally made fun of me for it (you know who you are) and probably still do today. LUCKILY for me, I have enough confidence in owning what I wear that they can go shove it because I look fierce. So. Here is my argument for why every woman needs a furry vest and you can do with that what you will.
This outfit looks fine by itself. Why would you put a furry polar bear vest with it?
Great question. Because it is freaking cold outside and that fuzzy vest keeps my neck warm. And your neck+head is where you lose 40-45% of your body heat (fact check me. I dare you). Basically, I am not here to take chances. I like being warm. So, while this outfit does look great without the vest, it looks BOMB with the vest. And that is exactly how I want it.
The vest makes me feel like a Marc Jacobs model.
Remember when you were saying earlier that is exactly the reason you COULDN’T POSSIBLY wear the vest? I’m here to tell you that runway styles don’t have to stay on the runway. Just because Alexander McQueen sets impossibly high standards for how a woman is supposed to look, doesn’t mean some of those looks can’t translate into regular street wear for today’s ladies. So, yes, I feel like a runway model with this vest on. I like it. You like it. We all like that.
It is completely versatile and you can wear it every day with everything and look totally chic.
Basically what I am saying is you got this. There isn’t one part of wearing a faux fur vest that isn’t impossibly chic. Wear it with your ripped boyfriend jeans and a maroon sweater, wear it with your plaid button up (like me), wear it with your army green sweater vest and booties….I could keep listing forever. The point is: the vest has you covered in every possible situation.
Your arms look smaller and your legs look longer.
The beauty of this vest is that it is so poofy that you automatically look little and dainty compared to it. Anything that makes you look taller and skinnier is a good thing, right? It is like a magical, fashionable sleight of hand. I’m all for Photoshop without the computer 😉 But for real — anything that makes you look like the best version of yourself is the type of clothing I want to be in all the time.
And there you have it. You need a faux fur vest — just accept it and move on. They are chic, cruelty-free (obviously) and super cozy and warm for the coming winter. I love mine and would wear it every day if that wasn’t considered totally tacky.

While I’m not totally sold on the faux fur vest (sorry, Taylor!), I do LOVE vests. In the fall and winter, they are definitely my staples along with scarves.
I think that vest adds a little whimsy to your outfit. It’s the thing that makes you look twice.

I’ve been wanting a faux fur vest for several years, but have yet to find one I really like that doesn’t add bulk. I love the one you picked. It’s shows off the fur without being overpowering.
