Easy Spring Date Night Look #OOTD

This outfit is composed of 5 parts: shift dress, jean jacket, metallic sandals, structured bag and statement sunnies. Here’s how to break it down:

Shift Dress

I love shift dresses. They’re so flattering, so comfortable and they make some for every body type. Target always has an amazing selection (that’s where this particular dress is from) and it’s really easy to find modest shift dresses. They typically always have some kind of sleeve, and usually go to at least mid-thigh if not longer. That’s a win for me! I’m a big fan of embroidery – so luckily, this dress is covered in it. I am pretty obsessed with the style altogether. Here are some of my fav shift dresses for under $30:

Jean Jacket

Jean jackets are SO important to keep as a staple in your closet (check out my nine other closet must-haves you need ASAP). It’s one of those pieces that never goes out of style or loses shape. Jean jackets are an absolute NEED in the spring because you need to be able to layer. Even though it was 60 degrees, there was a cold breeze and it would have been too chilly to venture outside without at least a light layer. Here are my favorite jean jackets worth the splurge:

Metallic Sandals

I find – when in doubt, add a metallic layer somewhere. Shoes or handbags usually do the trick. I opted for shoes this time around because 1) I already picked out my bag and 2) I am still obsessed months later with these shoes. These shoes matched the gold “Kate Spade” lettering and the hardware on my earrings. You can opt for any color hardware and metallic look – just choose one that goes with the non-metallic colors you are wearing. My dress and the tones in the embroidery leaned more towards warmer shades, so the gold just felt like it fit. Shop my favorite metallic sandals for under $30 here:

Structured Bag

This part is really important. Because a shift dress doesn’t have it’s own shape, you need to add some structure and shape in other ways. A good structured and stiff handbag is the perfect way to do that. I went with my favorite blush colored Kate Spade bag. It’s my spring staple. This shade is my absolute favorite and it makes me so happy this time of year because it was one of my wedding colors. Here are some of my fav structured bags for under $100:

Statement Sunnies

I have been obsessed with cute sunnies for a while now. I used to not really care about sunglasses – I had like one pair of ray bans that I wore for years. Then – recently – I discovered how fabulous the right pair of sunglasses can make an outfit look. These rose gold glasses are my newest obsession. Somehow I look like 40000x better when I wear them no matter what the outfit is. Basically – grab your fav pair of rockstar sunglasses to complete the look. 1. LUCKY!! It’s still Sprinter here in Austin, TX. Looks like it is more winter than spring at the moment. Haha. Love the Kate Spade purse. I have one of the same shade and it is perfect for the transition from winter to spring.
