Step One: Wear a blazer.
Blazers are empowering because they make you feel like the #bosslady you are. They work to dress up your work outfit. Blazers are also perfect because you can take them off and BOOM. This flirty, halter top is coming out to play.
Step Two: Pack a second pair of shoes.
Those stilettos may look amazing for your office job, but you aren’t going to want to walk around with your ladies like that (talk about OUCH). Pack a cute pair of studded flats to easily transition into your casual look!
Step Three: Pack some extra mascara.
To fully take your look from “work” to “wow” throw on an extra coat of mascara to really add some much needed drama to your face. Glam it up and use the Dior Showstopper Mascara to add extra volume and curl to your lashes.
Even though I’m not back in the office, I am still working and have business meetings to attend to. When I bought this top I immediately fell in love with the knot and keyhole detail in the front. The silky fabric and flowy cut are very forgiving and this look could easily be paired with some black skinny jeans for cocktails out with friends, or even white skinnies if you’re feeling bold. To make it work appropriate I would throw on a blazer or cardigan. I love when I find pieces that I can tie into my business attire but also have fun in outside of work.

YAY! Thanks so much, Rema for your words of wisdom. So many of us have jobs that require “work clothes” and it is so nice to know that you can have work clothes that also double as play clothes! I love the black and white in her outfit, don’t you?
Be sure to show her some love on her page and social media sites.
Thanks for stopping by — you are going to LOVE Friday’s post, so be sure to stop by for that as well. 🙂

Great post,
I had the same initial struggle when I had my son, it bacme workout gear 24-7 until I actually got back to the office and was able to branch out once again. I love the idea of having versatile pieces to work from day to night!

Thanks Caitlin + Dani!! 🙂 I’m so glad you liked my post! I love featuring other #girlbosses!!!
That blouse is gorgeous. With a blazer, it would be a nice professional look for the office. I work in a lab, so I’d never wear something that nice to work.
Cassandra — I also work in a lab as a biochemistry major 🙂 What kind of work do you do??
What a lovely outfit! I love the bag. It seems like something that would actually work for me!
It is a GREAT outfit.
These are helpful hints! I’m an attorney by day so my day job often bleeds into my social life!

Way to go, boss babe!!! Transition pieces are lifesavers!
I love this top. I can see how it would work for business or pleasure. Also, the extra shoes ideas is great!
Thanks!!! I think it is a great tip too!
That top. I love it. I can’t wear it as my arms would look horrifying. I love the bag as well! Too cute!
Thanks Terri!!!!
Loving everything about your outfit. I work in a more casual environment so I can see myself wearing something like this. Though I might through a cardigan over the top since I’m always cold inside.
I am also always cold!!!!!
Such a pretty top! This could be perfect with a blazer for work and then by itself afterwards!
Greta | http://www.gretahollar.com
Exactly, Greta!!!
I love this top!! And blazers for the win! They make everything so much easier (:
Blazers are the BOMB.
Great tips for transitioning your outfit from work to play! And I love that top you are wearing; it is so fun!
Thanks Shannon!!!
I love your cute top actually thought that it was going to be a dress at first. It would’ve been really cute as a dress also.
Yes it totally would have!
Omg just loving the outfit!!! I’m all about black!!! And that bag!!! So fab
Thanks Courtney!!
So true! A blazer really makes all the difference sometimes, and this top would be perfect to pair with one.
Thanks Joy!
That shirt is adorable! I wish I could wear it. I love the jewelry too. The chunky jewelry is perfect!
She styled it PERFECTLY.
Why can I not see where you got that shirt!? I love it!
I have no idea — the shirt is from Nordstrom!!!
Super cute outfit! I love the shirt and the purse. It’s the perfect outfit day or night!
Thanks Kirsten!!!!

Thanks January!! Rema is so wonderful.
I love the Tory Burch purse it defintiely goes from business to casual! So chic and definitely work to cocktail hour appropriate!
It feels nice to dress up for work. Not that you have to but it’s just motivating. Plus it’s not embarrassing to meet clients as well. I think this is a nice ensemble, it’s comfy and it’s perfect for the office.
Thanks Amanda! I totally agree.
I absolutely adore your shirt!! I love how it can be casual or you can dress it up more for work!
Thanks girl!
I love your top! I remember my times when I was working at the office.
Works great for office wear!
I absolutely love the monochromatic top and I agree; getting out of your comfy clothes and slipping into your more structured clothes really does make you feel better.
So true, Ana!
A dear dear friend of mine told me after my first baby was born and I left the work force — to 1) shower every day – no matter what 2) to put on my face – everyday no matter what 3) to get dressed in clothes – not pjs or workouts or lounge clothes – but actual clothes – everyday no matter what – She told me I would feel better about myself and my husband would always be attracted to me. It works!
What a gorgeous outfit! I’m stuck on black and whites, especially if I’m needing to get a little more business-like. It all ends up matching making for a quick yet professional outfit.
The entire look is amazing but my favorite items are the accessories! Nothing beats a large black tote/ satchel and beautiful arm candy.
Oh I love that top!!! I am sure it would not be near that cute on me! Lol
Oh I am sure it would look just as good!!!
I’m such a fan of multiple mascara coats! It really does make a huge difference and definitely glams things up!
YES!! I always do at least three — if not more!
This entire ensemble is so elegant. I love the print on the blouse and the way it is knotted up front. It’s perfect for any professional.
Thanks girl!!!!
I may fall into that yoga pants category…I think because I still have a toddler…who likes to throw food 😉 I do love to get dressed up, but it doesn’t happen as often as it should!
Hopefully when your little isn’t so little you can get back to that!
Love that shirt! I work at home so your business attire would be something I would slip into for an evening out with the hubby. Currently I fall into the jeans and t-shirt crowd, messy bun anyone?
Messy bun lover here too!
What a cute outfit! Totally agree that a blazer can take any outfit to the next level 🙂
That top is super cute! I love how unique the neckline is for it!
Right? Gorgeous!
