Happy #BEAUTYMONDAY! It’s the second week of May already, and as I’ve already covered how to care for dry skin during the summer, now it is time to cover hair care. As my blog name so aptly puts it, I am a blonde. However, I am not a natural blonde (hide your shock). Every few months, I get my hair dyed to keep my locks shiny and golden. While I LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair blonde, the bleach takes its toll. I don’t want my hair to be fried, and I don’t want it to look dull or lifeless. So, let’s jump into it!!
How To RESCUE Your Blonde Hair with BLNDN
This post is sponsored by BLNDN. All opinions are mine and mine alone.
PIN THIS FOR LATER:
Most women who go blonde don’t fully understand how difficult it can be to keep up with the style. Blonde tends to go brassy, and cause breakage and dryness (especially if you are going from dark to light). Use these tips to keep your hair looking FABULOUS and NOT drab-ulous (too much? #sorrynotsorry).
TIP #1: Using the right shampoo (aka: a purple one)
The first step in taking care of your blonde hair is finding a REALLY GOOD purple shampoo.

If you have bleached hair, then you know that one of the hardest parts about keeping your hair pretty is keeping it from getting brassy. I fight brassy hair EVERY DAY because my hair likes to pull warm, and I want it to pull cool. I have struggled with finding the right purple shampoo to tone my hair, and BLNDN gets it totally right.
Their purple shampoo is a deep rich violet. I NEVER go for toning shampoos that are anything lighter than almost black in color. The lighter shampoo never does anything to actually tone my hair. This one is super dark, so I knew immediately when I put it in my hand that we were on the right track.
I have used it twice a week since receiving it, and I am extremely pleased with the result. It takes the brassiness down and it doesn’t dry out my hair. Winner, winner.
Tip #2: Using the right conditioner
Keeping breakage to a minimum is REALLY important. Soft, healthy and shiny hair starts with a really good conditioner. It needs to nourish and seal split ends. Bleached hair can be extremely fragile.
I like this conditioner because it smells amazing. I go through a lot of conditioners because they make my hair oily. I haaaate that. I use it on the ends of my hair and my hair has been incredibly soft. I wish that I could use it on the roots of my hair, but when I use it on the roots it still feels a little bit greasy. But since I don’t typically use conditioner on my roots anyways, it isn’t that big of a deal for me.
It does a great job at healing my split ends and adding a major dose of shine to my hair!
Tip #3: The perfect leave-in treatment
Why do you need a leave-in conditioner? Because if you plan on using any kind of heat tools, your hair NEEDS the added protection. It will keep your hair from becoming frizzy (a huge problem with bleached hair) and will seal it shine while you are using a curling iron or straightener.
I am not a huge fan of product that I put in my hair while it’s damp (because of the whole oil situation) but I am actually really loving this thing. I put a tiny dime sized amount in the palm of my hand and smooshed it into my damp hair, and it dried really nicely. It was soft, healthy and shiny.
I did NOT notice any kind of a product build-up feeling at all. I enjoyed the lightness my hair felt and it seemed to hold a curl for a little longer than usual.
I hope these tips help you keep you blonde hair gorgeous and strong!!
If you have blonde hair, I would absolutely think about trying this line of hair care if you are looking for something to keep your hair healthy, strong and shiny in between salon visits. Bleach is SO harsh on your hair, and when you mix in salt water, chlorine and sun, the damage often becomes irreparable sometimes.
Let me know in the comments below how YOU care for your bleached hair!
I remember when I bleached my hair blonde last year it was really hard to figure out products for it! It’s a completely different ballgame from brown hair lol These seem like great options!
This brand is a fantastic options!
Blonde hair is a lot of upkeep, I just have a bit in mine & it’s still a lot of work. Thanks for the info!

I hope they find it really useful!!
I would never go blonde (I don’t look good with light hair) but these are great tips nonetheless!
Thanks Krysten! I love being blonde – I look so funny with dark hair even though it’s my natural color!
I LOVE this post! I actually wrote a super similar post about removing brassiness from blonde hair & keeping your blonde cool toned! It for real is a challenge for me. (http://www.slightlysavvy.com/ultimate-guide-cool-blonde-hair)
I totally didn’t know that the shade of the purple shampoo matetred! I use the drybar Blonde Ale brightening shampoo, and I really love it. It’s DEFINTIELY a dark, dark purple.
I really want to check out this brand though because I’m always on the lookout for a new purple shampoo!
Isn’t it funny how the color of the shampoo matters? MY hairstylist turned me on to that trick!!! I’ll have to check out your post!
I do not colour my hair (I’ve learned to accept my “Arctic highlights” – grey hairs – for now), but I do swear by weekly deep conditioning. It rescued my hair!
SO true! A good deep conditioner is KEY!
Well have never gone Blonde myself, my sister went that way last year, will share this with her ????
I hope she loves it! The products are awesome!
I wish I knew all this blonde maintance when I was blonde….probably still would be haha!
LOL. It can be a lot of work, but it is wonderful!! 😀
So helpful! I am not blonde, but will definitely be sharing with my friends who are.
I’m so glad!!!
I was blonde for years before I went back to my natural color and it IS a lot of work! But I still really miss it. I remember when I tried my first purple shampoo and it totally changed my life haha!

Every hair color needs it’s own rescuer and I’m glad you’ve found a product that works for you! As a brunette I have been using Redken for quite a while, but am always looking for new things to try! 🙂

I never knew purple was needed for this?! I’ve never died my hair, but have been tempted to a time or two. I swear by leave in conditioner too- works wonders on my frizz! Also, I was a fan of drabulous 🙂

Great tips! I have red hair, but my daughter’s is blonde and highlighted–and I know nothing of the best ways to care for it!
Oh wow. I had no idea that blondes should be using purple shampoo. As a life-long brunette, I’ve never had to worry about it. But I still appreciate the info!
I’m a brunette but think about going blonde sometimes. This product sounds like the bomb and if I ever go blonde I need to use it!

Having blonde hair takes a lot of work! This is super helpful!
Ooo this looks amazing! I definitely will need to try. My hair always needs a little re-vamp after the beach.

You’re almost making me wish I had blonde hair so that I could use this perfect line of products. Keeping my hair RED can be just as much of a struggle, and there are far fewer products available to help save the color. Here’s hoping they come out with a line for redheads soon!

Ok this is So true!!! My mom has dyed her hair red her whole life practically and she has the hardest time keeping the color vibrant. I totally agree there needs to be a really good red head line! What do you use right now??
Ugh where was this when I was a blonde! Maintaining blonde locks especially as an asian is so hard!

Oh gosh I can only guess!!! Maybe you’ll go back again and use this!
QUESTION…does purple hair work for brunettes too??? Or what color shampoo is best for us???
Coming Up Roses
This looks like a great product line – I used to keep blonde streaks in my hair, and I loved them but I eventually quit because of what the bleach was doing to my hair. I miss the blonde, but I’m loving having healthy hair again.
Maybe this brand will give me the courage to try again.
I hope you do! Being blonde is GREAT! 😀
