Another month, another monthly obsessions!! I have been doing these for over three years now and they’re still my favorite round ups to do. It’s kind of like a little time capsule for myself and the things I enjoy over the years. If I was a journal-er, I think my entries would just be little lists like this. For August, I had a bunch of fun favorites. Lots of books, music and clothes made it on the list this month – so keep on reading to see my favorites!
August 2022 Monthly Obsessions
Learn with Homer
This has been the BEST iPad app in getting Jack ready for preschool. I actually interviewed the founder of Homer on my podcast (the episode is here). Jack plays on this once or twice a day and I have really fallen in love with how much it’s helped him prep for school. His cognitive development, word retrieval, numbers and letters have gotten much stronger and he feels like it’s a “game” instead of homework.
My Sister’s Closet Blue Babydoll Dress
I have gotten SO MANY compliments on this adorable dress!!! I grabbed it last minute before we left for vacay as a dinner dress option and it was absolutely darling on. I loved the dress pattern and it is SO flattering. Plus, this shop is one of my all-time favorites.
ToteSavvy Clear Travel Bags
These clear travel bags were PERFECT for my makeup, skincare and cord storage!! The smallest bag was just the right size to go in my backpack carry-on to keep all my cords organized. The medium size fit all of my skincare products – and the largest size was PERFECT for my makeup. I love that they laid flat in my suitcase and didn’t take up too much space. They’re currently out of stock – but you can get on the waitlist!
The Montage @ Palmetto Bluffs
This is the resort we stayed at for our vacation this year! We rented a house for our whole family, plus my aunt/uncle/cousins and my grandparents. It was absolutely gorgeous and everyone had plenty of space to spread out. We went boating, paddle boarding, kayaking and biking. There were pickle ball courts and tennis courts. Treehouses that you could explore and climb (Jack LOVED these). We rented golf carts so we could get around. There were tons of adorable little shops and restaurants, and every morning we grabbed drinks and breakfast at the little cafe in town.
Maisie Peters
I have basically become obsessed with Maisie! Her music is very Taylor-Swift-Reputation-Era and I LOVE it. She’s an awesome song writer and her lyrics are super catchy. She writes dance-in-your-shower music. Current favorite listen: Blonde!
DRMTLGY skincare
I have really enjoyed trying this brand out! I use their 24/7 acne serum and their tinted moisturizer and I can’t get enough. The tinted moisturizer has SPF in it so you are never without sun protection, and it’s the perfect sheet skin perfecter. The acne serum has become one of my holy grail products. I mentioned it HERE in my current skincare line up.
Monday Shampoo & Conditioner
I have started using this combo recently and really like it! It smells amazing, and the volumizing line adds a little bit of oomf to my otherwise flat hair. Also – it has NO SLS or parabens, cruelty free and tested by dermatologists!
The Spanish Love Deception
I am….unhealthily obsessed with Aaron Blackford. Like. Number one book boyfriend FOR SURE. I read this book on vacation and will probably re-read it before the end of the year. It is had bumped up to my second favorite book of the year. Here’s the summary –
Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister’s wedding. Especially since her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows—including her ex and his fiancée—will be there and eager to meet him.
She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic and aid in her deception. New York to Spain is no short flight and her raucous family won’t be easy to fool.
Enter Aaron Blackford—her tall, handsome, condescending colleague—who surprisingly offers to step in. She’d rather refuse; never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling, and insufferable man.
But Catalina is desperate, and as the wedding draws nearer, Aaron looks like her best option. And she begins to realize he might not be as terrible in the real world as he is at the office.
Emily Henry
Speaking of books – Emily Henry might just be my current favorite non-fantasy author. I have read all her current books – Book Lovers, People We Meet On Vacation and Beach Read and cannot wait for her newest book to come out, Happy Place. Book Lovers is my #1 book I’ve read this year!
Baltic Born Dresses
Ok just ordered three dresses from this shop for various events I have going on this year and am in love!! I LOVE the quality and the variety. I also love that they are classy and classic with a variety of prints and colors. They are very bridal shower, baby shower, wedding guest appropriate without breaking the bank.
