We are expecting Baby Mobley ANY DAY now – so you can imagine our insane excitement about meeting our little boy. I just sit in his nursery and dream about how amazing it’s going to be when he gets here. I haven’t LOVED being pregnant as much as other people but there will definitely be things I miss and I feel so utterly grateful that I was able to experience a full-term pregnancy when we thought that may not even be a possibility for us. The last nine months have been a big blessing for sure. If you haven’t read my first trimester + second trimester recaps – be sure to check those out, too! It’s amazing the difference just a few months makes. I am super stoked to update you on the last trimester – so let’s do this!
*ALSO: A HUGGGEEEE shout out to Erin Sexauer and her amazing skills behind a camera for giving us the maternity shoot of our DREAMS. I am so obsessed with how they turned out. I couldn’t be happier. If you are in the STL or Chicago area and are looking for a fabulous photographer (the literal best, tbh) check out her website HERE.*
Third Trimester PREGNANCY UPDATE!
How I’ve Been Feeling:
Back in my second trimester update, I think I made a comment about how I thought I missed that “second trimester sweet spot” because I was still kind of uncomfortable and didn’t really understand what everyone was talking about. NOW I understand what everyone was talking about. There absolutely is a second trimester sweet spot and I DID NOT APPRECIATE IT WHEN IT WAS HAPPENING. Now I know for next time. 😉 The first trimester is rough because morning sickness, and looking back now, I was definitely my most comfortable from week 20-27ish. Now into my third trimester, I am EXTREMELY uncomfortable and it’s pretty obvious.
- I haven’t slept well for so long I can hardly remember what it’s like. Even with a pregnancy pillow it’s been rough. I obviously get up to pee like 2-4 times a night still, but also my legs and hips ache really badly when I lay on one side for too long and it wakes me up as well. They are sharp shooting pains, so I have to switch sides when that happens and it’s harder to do that nowadays.
- My hips pop every time I stand, and they ache ALWAYS. I knew my hips would stretch, and I’d get periodic hip and pelvis pains in my second trimester, but it’s pretty constant now! If I’m standing and walking, I’m probably waddling because I’m trying not to put too much pressure on one or both hips while I hobble around.
- My boobs are double their normal size and hurt like a mother. I KNEW THIS WAS COMING BUT HOLY COW FOLKS. It’s to the point now where it’s super painful to even wear just a tshirt bra. I know they are preparing to have me (hopefully) breastfeed, but do they have to be so dang painful?!!??!
- I can’t sit for extended periods of time because my lungs feel very squished so I get up and walk a bit more to stretch out. Jack has actually finally dropped at about 37 weeks so this isn’t AS much of an issue, but it is still SUPER uncomfortable to sit or lay down for long periods of time. I have to get up and stretch quite a bit during the day because if I don’t, it literally feels like someone is slowly squishing my lungs of any air.
- Jack loves to kick my ribs! This dude. I swear. He loves to move and respond to sounds/pokes to the belly, but he has a vendetta against my rib cage. His favorite activity is sticking his little baby feet up there and shoving as hard as he can. I try to push his little legs down when he does that, but he just puts them right back. His favorite time of day to do this is when I’m trying to sleep!
- I am not having any crazy cravings anymore – except I’m a real sucker lately for Steak N Shake chocolate malts. Malts have been my biggest thing lately for sure – but I wouldn’t say I have any crazy cravings really anymore. It’s whatever I am feeling like in the moment, pretty much like before pregnancy.
- My acne has FINALLY started to subside, but it honestly took until about week 36. This has been a constant my whole pregnancy. As someone who really didn’t suffer from acne at all as a teenager or into my early 20s, this was a new thing for me and it has made me SUPER insecure about my face (especially being a makeup artist and having to shoot and film close up shots of my face. I’m working on not letting it get the best of me but I will confess I’m not always successful and it does make me sad seeing all the scaring I’ve developed over the last few months.
- Jack moves constantly, and now they are really big kicks! He is rude when he kicks my ribs, but I won’t lie: I LOVE the baby kicks. I love watching my belly move and I love feeling his little tush and feet. And hiccups! He hiccups a TON. It’s such a nice reassurance to feel him flipping around in there during the day and it really makes me feel like I’ve got a little side kick hanging around with me and I love that.
- The exhaustion is BACK. I was BONE tired my first trimester, got some of that energy back in the second, and now I’m pooped again. I’ve been going to bed recently at like 9pm. I am SO tired and since I am not really sleeping well through the night, the earlier I get into bed the better. Plus I take pretty regular naps again when I can.
- Nesting is a real thing. We have been working on the house like crazy. We finally furnished the basement, the nursery is done, and most of our big house projects are finished! We wanted to redo our mailbox, get the basement done, clean out the garage, sort our store unit in the basement, reorganize the hall closet to make room for baby stuff, etc. and we managed to have all of that done by the end of May which was AWESOME.
- Baby Mobley’s nursery is DONE!!! Like I mentioned above: the nursery is finished!!!! We wanted it done before he was born so I was so happy by the time that happened. We finished this in late May, and it couldn’t be more perfect. You can check out that reveal here!!!
I am really ready for him to be here — but I will miss certain parts about being pregnant. Feeling him move, watching Adam love me and my belly (don’t worry – he loves me with or without the baby belly LOL), the baby bump itself. I hope we are lucky enough to do this again someday soon!!! We had our first round of actual false contractions (more intense than Braxton Hicks) last night that really got us feeling like he could be here at ANY time – EEK!
What was your third trimester like?! Let me know in the comments below!
I love that you are doing updates on your blog! It’ll be fun for you to look back on and remember everything leading up to baby’s arrival!
ahh so exciting hun! you look so fab! l love learning more about you!
xo,
Whitney
So so exciting that you’re so close to meeting Jack! Your third trimester sounded like mine…tired, achy, and SO READY TO BE DONE! haha
These updates are interesting to read – no one super close to me has been pregnant so I honestly don’t know much about pregnancy and such so these posts are eye-opening!
I’ve firstly gotta say that these photos are MAGICAL – the love you two have for each other and already have for baby Jack is just so evident throughout these stunning captures. Secondly, as someone who’s watched countless others go through pregnancies, but doesn’t want to go through one herself, it was really fascinating to read about the different things you’re experiencing – good and bad. It puts everything into perspective! I really am SO excited for you!
You look so beautiful girl. I have to say with my pregnancies, I was completely miserable by the third trimester. All I wanted was them out of me. The belly got so heavy lol.
Also, nesting is REAL. I cleaned daily. lol
YUP. I’m SOOOO ready to be done LOL. 38 weeks is KILLING me.
Such exciting times! You look amazing in yellow, love how these turned out!
The pictures are adorable! I really enjoyed reading your third-trimester blog post. I hope you can find a comfortable position to sleep before the baby is born 🙂
These pictures are so cute! I love that dress on you. The third trimester can be a doozy I hope you’re able to catch some zzz’s in a comfy position soon!
