Happy Friday, beautiful people. Today’s post is a good one, and everyone needs to hear it! We will be discussing HOW you (and everyone else) can be successful in your everyday life. There are lots of reasons why you aren’t successful: you’re holding yourself back, you are afraid of success, others are weighing you down…the list is endless. But why should you settle with LESS? The simple answer is you SHOULDN’T. Let’s dive into how YOU can be successful in your daily life.

Five Habits Of Highly Successful People

I know..I know. You are thinking “ok, success cannot be as simple as just reading your blog post”. And you’d be right. You won’t be successful until you start implementing the things that will help push you in the right direction. Starting these five habits will leave you feeling more productive, much happier, and as a result: more successful.

Habit One: Prioritize

Highly successful people are good a lot of things but one of the most important things they excel at is prioritizing. You need to be able to take a task list of items and put them into order according to their importance. Start with the tasks that take the least amount of time, and the progress onto the more time consuming items. Find a balance that works for you.

Habit Two: Positive Mental Attitude

You have to be able to keep a positive mental attitude when you are working to be successful. The road to success is paved with failure (typically). Any big success story you hear usually has several failed businesses or ideas before their big breakthrough. Staying positive through the rough times are extremely important.

Habit Three: Be Consistent With Your Schedule

I find that as a work-from-home entrepreneur, it is really important for me to keep some sort of schedule during the day. I try to keep the same hours during the day so I can get into productive habits. I sit at my makeup desk and get work DONE. I know that other successful people do this as well, hence why I adopted the habit myself. Block out time for work, lunch, family, etc.

Habit Four: Keep Your Goals In Focus

Remind yourself CONSTANTLY what your end goal is. I keep my mantra and end goal constantly in view. I look at it everyday. Make a dream board to keep yourself focused. Have an accountability partner. Set short term AND long term goals.

Habit Five: Find A Podcast That Encourages Your Success

Let me introduce to you: Whitney Johnson.

Best-selling author Whitney Johnson (of “Disrupt Yourself”) explores her passion for personal disruption through engaging conversations with disruptors. Each episode of this podcast reveals new insights about how we work, learn, and live.

Her series of podcasts are FABULOUS but the one that I want to talk about most specifically is episode nine: Stacy London. That’s right: What Not To Wear’s Stacy London sits down with Whitney Johnson and discusses how Stacy is a “disruptor”. They talk about confronting the challenges that happen when you get burnt out from working yourself to death. What happens after that scary leap? I think I personally resonated with this particular podcast because I love fashion, and I love Stacy London. As a stylist and fellow fashion lover — her story really hits home for me. Discovering your path to disruption can be TERRIFYING but Stacy London and Whitney Johnson make it seem less scary and more inviting.

Listening to podcasts and reading encouraging books is absolutely a habit of highly successful people. As a self-starting entrepreneur, I am constantly looking for inspiration and Whitney’s podcast does exactly that for me.

SO WHAT IS YOUR NEXT STEP?

The next step is to put these things into action. Make that goal list. Be consistent. Prioritize. Stay positive.

More than that, you can download Whitney’s podcast. It is FREE on iTunes (so you have no excuse). If you LOVELOVELOVE it, I would be thrilled if you could leave a review on your experience with the podcasts. Both Whitney and I can’t wait to go back and read all of your positive opinions. Click HERE to go to the podcasts (Stacy London’s is episode 9). In addition to that, if you love Whitney’s style, email her at [email protected] to be added to her email list or visit her website and sign up there

  1. I look forward to checking out this podcast – thanks! I love the idea, too, of keeping the mantra and goal constantly in mind. I need to do more of this.

  2. I think the hardest thing for me to do is prioritize! I’m so guilty of wanting to check the little things off my list, isntead of giving attention the bigger items that truly need to be accomplished. SO true to always have an end goal in mind- that’s probably my favorite!

  3. Oh, I’m definitely with you on keeping a consistent schedule. This is something I need to work more on when it comes to all my online businesses – including blogging. I tweeted this for you!

  4. Love this post. I’ve found that having a positive attitude is everything when it comes to being successful. But also, knowing what being successful means to you.

  5. I love the second habit! We’re constantly making the decisions, “what does this mean?” and “what am I going to do about it?” Some people’s automatic programming is to go to the negative side of things, rather than deciding to go for the positive.

  6. the only thing about working from home that makes me a little sad, is not having the attention to listen to podcasts. I feel like if i commuted i would do it.

  7. These are great tips! I have to keep a schedule to keep up. I have a blog post with podcase for motivation on my blog!

  8. A positive attitude is the key to success in life, for sure! Stacey London so fun, but I had no idea she had a podcast so thanks for introducing me to that. 🙂

  9. My next step should truly be being consistent with my schedule, which at times is hard as there are so many events and what not that kind of disturbs that harmony of my everyday life and no day really looks like the other. What I need to do is to set up a schedule and stick to it without any excuses. Thank you for making me become even more successful 🙂

    1. I TOTALLY understand days not looking the same. Mine never do either. But I do try to keep my mornings free typically, so that I can get my best work done then!!

  10. These are such great suggestions, and I believe they’re all really important. I’m so happy you mentioned finding good podcasts because lately that’s been super helpful for me. I just went and downloaded the episode with Stacy (omg fangirling so hard because I was obsessed with her when I was growing up). I can’t wait to put more of these into practice!

  11. I love that prioritizing was your number 1. I’m the worst at this. My goal is to list out my goals for each day in the order of priority. So many times I do stupid things that can wait when big things need to be done. I also need to work being consistent with my schedule. Thanks for these tips!

  12. I really want to get more into inspiring podcasts! I really try and get up every morning and get dressed even if I’m not working!

  13. I totally agree on scheduling, I pretty much schedule everything but having four blogs that is kinda necessary. I have recently gotten into podcasts and will check out your suggestion. Great post

  14. Great tips and I totally agree with scheduling your time, no matter how busy you are we can all use extra time. I have also been getting into podcasts and love them.
