I’m Taylor

a little bit more about me

As a child, we are often asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” and expected to answer with one thing: an astronaut, a doctor, an artist. Never both. Never a doctor AND an artist. An astronaut AND a teacher.

But let me let you in on a little secret: human beings are the sum of all our parts. The job titles we carry. The degrees we earn. The projects we create. The hobbies we collect. We are not singular: we are multidimensional. We deserve the and.

If I had to choose a favorite pastime, I would probably pick proving the haters wrong as a top contender.

In fact, my husband lovingly refers to my shiny biochem degree as “spite degree”, because a chemistry professor once told me I “wasn’t very good at this kind of work, and probably shouldn’t pursue a science-heavy career”. So, was it a spite degree? Maybe. But it was also the reason I realized that I can do anything I put my mind to, even if it takes me a few tries to get it right.

If you had asked me a decade ago what I would be doing with my life right now, I never in a million years would have said, “working from home at my dream job (that I built myself).”

Entrepreneurship was never the plan. But most of the best things in my life have been outside “the plan”.

I thought I’d be a chemist in a lab, creating makeup formulas.

Lucky for me – I had a communications professor tell 23 19-year-old students to “write about your life for three months. See what you discover.”

For me, those three months turned into a year. And then five. And now eight years later – Taylor, Lately (formerly Blonde & Ambitious Blog) is a multi-faceted business that continues to flourish and grow.

My business looks wildly different than it did eight years ago: there have been pivots, direction changes, babies added, states moved, employees hired. But the vision has always been the same: inspire women to be the best version of themselves.

behind the account

Taylor Mobley

Here are some things you should know about me right off the bat: I am a caffeine-fueled manifesting generator and enneagram three with a raging oldest child complex. I have two incredible little boys – Jack & Noah – and I am married to my favorite person in the universe.

In real time, you can probably find me soaking in a bubble bath reading whatever Emily Henry or Sarah J Maas book I’m currently on or brainstorming exactly how I’m going to help the women around me find their passions and shatter the idea that they have to be “one thing” for the rest of their lives.

I am many things. I am not defined by any one single title. I am the culmination of everything that I do.

I am a mother. I am an entrepreneur. I am a writer, a doer, and a believer of big, impossible things.

Taylor, Lately

This slice of the internet is what my brain would look like if you could see inside my head.

Inspired by the magazine spreads in Vogue, New York City itself, Gossip Girl icon Blair Waldorf and the clean, bold colors that fill my Pinterest boards – this is the ultimate hub for multi-passionate mamas. I hope you feel like we’re friends after hanging out here for a while.

What I’m loving

Cinnamon Dolce Lattes, oversized sweatshirts and bike shorts, baby belly laughs and predictable morning routines

What I’m learning

That toddlers are forces to be reckoned with, that trying to force myself to go in a direction I am not 100% in love with is a battle I’ve already lost, that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea (and that’s actually fine)

What I’m not about

Unkind stranger interactions (let’s just agree to be kinder than necessary, always), when my takeout order is wrong – and I’ve already driven back home, living far away from the people I love

What I believe

Iced drinks are better than hot (even in winter), lip gloss is more fun than lipstick – Serena van der Woodsen style, your dreams don’t have to make sense to anyone else if they make sense to you

quote

Being authentic will radiate more pure energy than trying to be someone you are not.
