Happy FRI-YAY! I have been working on this post for a LONG time. I am a big advocate of self-care – and not just in the typical millennial fashion of bubble baths and a good book. While I absolutely advocate for those two things regularly, mental health and self-care go a lot deeper than just those two things. There are a lot of things you may not even think about being self-care that can be extremely beneficial in your life and can help keep your anxiety low and stress levels manageable. Let’s dive into this.
25 Self-Care Tips That AREN’T A Bubble Bath
Go to bed at a reasonable time.
Spend money on & eat healthy foods.
Slow breaths and take time to process a situation vs irrational responses.
Keep your commitments instead of canceling last minute.
Do light forms of exercise for 30 min every day.
Go to therapy.
Allow yourself to have meaningful conversations.
Be kind and compassionate to yourself.
Go outside and breathe fresh air.
Drink a large glass of water when you wake up.
Don’t work when you eat. Take that time for yourself.
Learn to say no and stop over-committing yourself.
Identify your top priorities.
Limit screen time.
Get your budget in order + manage finances.
Allow yourself to feel your feelings.
Have a little dance party.
Journal your feelings in the evening. Even it’s just making a list and allowing yourself to release them.
Develop a morning routine you can stick to.
Sit up straight and work on your posture.
Light a candle that makes you feel good in your environment. Aromatherapy can work wonders on mood.
Make a list of things that aren’t bringing you joy: people, activities, thoughts. Try to work on how to reduce or eliminate them.
Volunteer somewhere for 1-2 hours a month.
Find one hobby you really enjoy and make time for it one hour a week.
Make a really good playlist that lifts your mood when you listen to it.

I hope that this life helps you find a few things that will help reduce stress and anxiety in your life. I know it isn’t always as easy as doing a simple task on a list – but I find that just getting into a routine that I can expect and stick to eliminates of lot of unnecessary worry from my life, too.
