HAAAPPY #fashionwednesday, friends! I love sharing modest fashion finds on my page because it’s something I look for quite often on pinterest and the interwebs. It can be hard to find clothing that is modest and actually fashionable at the same time, unfortunately, so I’m out to prove to the world that it actually can be done. AND that it can be done even if you are 37 weeks pregnant. It’s HARD – but not impossible. 😉 And whatever your reason for forgoing tank tops and short shorts (no matter how cute they are), I got your back. Let’s dive into this.
Modest Summer Must-Have: Distressed Denim Shorts
I love these denim shorts for a few reasons:
One. They are not the weird Bermuda short length that gives me hives.
Let me explain. It’s not that I have a weird vendetta against Bermuda shorts. If you love them, go for it dude. But they make my legs look BIZARRE. They cut at the strangest part of my leg – like right at the knee – and make me look strangely short. These shorts are mid-thigh, so they are long enough that I feel comfortable, but not so long that I’m entering 1800s territory. For those of you who have been shopping modest shorts for a while – you will know how hard it is to find this middle ground of short styles.
Two. They are a bit distressed which adds kind of an edge to the short and helps them not look “frumpy”.
I love distressed shorts and pants. If it were up to me, almost every pair of jeans and shorts I own would be distressed. I know that classy denim has it’s place (it totally does) but in the summer? No thanks! I want to look casual and chic all the dang time. These are just ‘barely’ distressed, so they aren’t TOO over the top. Again – such a great middle ground in the world of shorts.
Three. They actually fit my whale of a belly and don’t cut into the back of my hips.
Hi, my name is Taylor, and I am approx. 34 weeks pregnant. I do not fit into many things anymore. I am mostly uncomfortable and everything I wear feels too tight or like a muumuu. There is no in-between apparently. BUT these shorts actually fit…comfortably. They don’t cut into my hips like everything else lately, and the belly band comes up over my whole belly to give it support and hold everything in place.
Four. They are the perfect ‘in between’ wash color.
I love light wash jeans, but sometimes you want that medium denim! For some reason, I always have a hard time finding this particular kind of wash and it’s so annoying. I love that it still contrasts with both my darker and lighter colored clothing. It definitely makes picking my outfits out that much easier.
I can’t wait until I fit back into my pre-pregnancy shorts this length again (I’m linking them above for those of you who are not insanely pregnant). I have tried not to buy an exorbitant amount of maternity clothes this pregnancy because I don’t know what season it’ll be the next time I get pregnant, or even if things will still fit me the same. However, that has been really hard because I got a lot bigger than I anticipated and I truly haven’t fit into any of my prepregnancy clothing since middle of the second trimester. SIGH. But honestly, if that’s one of my only complaints, than I would say it’s been a pretty successful pregnancy so far and we are SUPER stoked to meet our boy!
Do you like shorts this length?! What is your favorite summer short style? Let me know in the comments below!
The fit on those is perfect! The length of my summer shorts is important to me, as I tend to learn more towards modest lengths myself. The finger tip rule is still legitimate haha!
Finding the right length shorts is so important for each persons body type. I love this length too.
I haven’t tried shorts in this length for a long time. When I was younger, it was all I was allowed to wear. However, I’m seeing more and more of this length lately!
omg at 34 weeks nothing fit me and I basically lived in dresses and and leggings that fit sometimes depending on where baby was .Love these shorts , this is so cute.
I love these shorts! The length is great, love how modest but chic they are!

cute & little
Man, this length of shorts was all I wore when I was a teen, and they certainly were NOT the popular choice at the time. Now these AND bermuda shorts are super on-trend (along with one-piece swimsuits) lol. Why did I not grow up in THIS time?
I love this outfit ! Something i would wear for sure.
That length looks so good on you! I’m only 5’2 so I have to stick to shorter ones but as a mom it’s hard to find those without feeling naked ????
You are looking so cute. I love your bump.
The shorts are a good length too.
Those shorts sound like a godsend! I’ll look into them – they look fabulous on you!
